Lots of other reasons I’m sure if I look them up.
We all have to support those in line with our beliefs, wishes, and concerns.
As well as consider how these people in power will affect our friends, family, our jobs, etc.
Everyone is different in this respect.
Some people, for example, do not care about the 2nd Amendment so anything involving gun rights will not matter to them.
Others, such as I, greatly care about the 2nd Amendment.
Etc.

As someone in the military, going into law enforcement, having the prime government leader or official of your state backing you up during these times is quite relieving.
In an age of woke politics and weak/unproven leaders that cater to hateful mobs, Governor Desantis seems REALER than many other “leaders”
Of course, a lot of his beliefs coincide with mine, how I’d want to live my life, etc.

Pro covid deaths (10,000 more than New York in the last 12 months, with vaccines, 22,000 more, going back 18 months).
Anti-truth. Florida is manipulating its covid death numbers! (They're still doing it, pretending that the number of deaths in the last week were in the 10s, but the death count increases in the 100s every week.)
It's pretty clear that Florida only reports a tenth of the number of deaths in each week so that the deaths per million is much lower than their neighbours. I've since found that it's been reported in the media, too.
I don't think you can really look at those reports and come to the conclusion that it was anything like any other state. Early on, there were disagreements on how to count numbers, but Florida has obviously been delaying their reports to the CDC in order to make themselves look less terrible than they are.
Consider this. New York and Florida have roughly the same population, and roughly the same number of covid deaths. The thing is, though, that New York was hit by a novel virus that nobody knew how to treat, or whether it was airbourne (although we now know that Trump was told it probably was in early February 2020), or whether it was going to affect the whole state (numbers were doubling every 3 days). That killed tens of thousands in the early days, which was a tragedy. On the other hand, almost all of Florida's deaths have come since we knew what worked (including social distancing and fresh air, which are easier to come by in Florida than NY). DeSantis didn't just not recommend masks, he legislated that county and municipal governments *couldn't* demand masks.
Tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths. That's his legacy. It will be interesting to see if they were mostly Republicans, in the next election.
@goaded You aren't smart are you? You like to spout off all the time on something that has a 99% survival rate. You have "our" endings to everything, which puts you in a spot. Someone who needs to be ignored as much as someone with pronouns in their profile.
My impression of DeSantis is very good. Whether or not he ultimately runs for President will be up to Donald Trump. At present, he seems OK but his health and the political climate can change in two years. DeSantis is in perfect position to pick up the MAGA baton if Trump opts out.

When there were demonstrators blocking traffic he approved an ordinance that said if somebody was blocking a bridge it was okay for somebody to run him over. The demonstrations stopped in Florida while the rest of the country was burned to the ground. I wish that my state had a governor like him. Maybe we will soon.
He is definitely a good politician and thinks logically, he thinks how politicians should act, for the working majority of people. Too bad I don’t live in Florida, we could use someone like him here in New York
It's all the same bullshit, red and blue. The coins and tables have flipped. Most Republicans and most Democrats are going to say the same exact sh** about 'the other guy' even if it's non-political.

Well, to me, it’s not the same.
Otherwise, I’d see President Biden the same as Gov Desantis.
I’d see President Obama the same as all other presidents.
Obviously it’s not all the same, that’s just lazy thinking.
