It is a waste if that is your attitude about pets. If you enjoy the love and companionship of innocent animals, having a pet is a very satisfying experience.

For some it is. I know people who refuse to have pet for this reason, they dont want the expense and see it as something that limits their daily life I guess. pets can be expensive, and most of them are time consuming, but it is only a waste if it isn't worth it

I definitly dont see my dog as a waste of time and money, she is the source of a lot of joy in my life, but I can understand why it isn't for everyone

No and yes. Dogs are expensive and high maintenance. The rest are not so bad unless you are into pigs, chickens, and livestock as pets…

People with pets are healthier both mentally and physically in general. Interestingly, truck drivers who bring their pets along have a 40% reduced accident rate (pet the FMCSA). I don't know how anyone doesn't have a pet or two.
