Voted C. It is more complicated than blaming one generation - and in fact that tends to be more "blaming" than "explaining." The additional irony that the phenomenon of "wokeism," to give its' popular generic term, actually has its' roots in an earlier age.
Backward reels the mind to the 1960s. This being a time of "do your own thing," and "fight the man." The decade being a time when social radicalism took hold, particularly in the universities and among the student and youth movements. This popularly embodied, if somewhat sloppily, in the "hippies" and all the rest.
Suffice to say, the youth movement of the 1960s, and the decade as a whole, were a time of social tumult, instability and radicalism, particularly on the campuses. This to the horror of the generation of the 1950s. (A humorous critique of the 1950s was that all that President Eisenhower brought was peace and prosperity - and that was boring.)
Of course the tumult of the 1960s - added with the economic upheavals of the 1970s that followed - led to relative (it is always relative) social stability and prosperity of the 1980s and 1990s. This setting the stage for the combining of three trends - one cultural, one demographic and one technological.
In cultural terms, the tumult of 1917 to 1953 era - when the USA experienced two world wars, the Forgotten Depression of 1919, the Spanish Influenza pandemic of 1918 - 1919, the Great Depression, World War II and the Korean War - led to the stability of the 1950s. The relative peace, harmony and stability of that era, provoking cries of conformity and leading to the tumults of the 60s and 70s, and that in turn to the relative stability of the 80s and 90s and thus to the present day.
The point being that what one generation longed for - the peace and quiet of the 1950s, for example - the next generation that grew up in that stability took for granted and grew discontented. This leading to subsequent turmoil and then back again in a continuously shifting cultural pattern.
To this add that, in this particular moment, the generation of students that had been protesting on the campuses, living in communes and rioting in the streets in the name of social justice has moved on in age. They now run corporations, practice law, and are at the top rungs of society and the culture - and they have taken their values with them.
To this add the third element. The message of the 1960s generation was "fight the man," "do your own thing" and social justice. The technology of that era being a mass technology. Mass circulation newspapers and magazines, movies, radio, television. They forced people of diverging views to see the world through more or less the same prism.
Not that all thought alike, but the technology of the times bred fears of conformity and thus the message of radical justice and individualism. The difference now being that the technology of the era is radically individualistic. Anyone can pick up their phone or open their computer and see the world through algorithms that adapt to the individual's preferences and thus each sees the world through their preconceived biases.
Thus, where the generation of the 60s - now demographically in the top rungs of society and the culture - said "fight the man" in the belief that it would advance their arguments for social justice, the new technology reverses that. Fearing that each will ignore the message of social justice, the result is "wokeism," i. e. in effect, "you better use the words the man tells you," and do what we say is moral and right.
It is the social ethos of the 1960s distorted through the prism of technology - and in the case of the younger generation - being taught to them by the professors and other cultural leaders who had themselves been young and "revolutionary" in the 60s and 70s. Thus to the nation's present state of affairs.

Fuck millennials they blamed the boomers for their mediocrity, now we're gonna blame gen z too?
Leave them alone, they're just trying to live in the world that was set up for them and to be honest, they kinda seem to me like they're more up for the task then I remember people being back in 2012.
Everybodys getting canceled for everything, it makes sense that eventually the pronouns would go on a resume, it's absolutely going to increase your chances of getting hired at a place that has to worry about woke culture. Gen z didn't create that.
There have always been more than two pronouns it's just white colonizer society that tried to eradicate them.
There is usually at least a third option in most cultures. In most indigenous cultures it's called "two-spirit" and they are seen as valuable spiritual leaders who are in tune with both masculinity and femininity. Though, two-spirit is kind of just a catch-all term there is of course a specific word for it in every indigenous language.
There are also a number of transgender myths in ancient greek mythology with eunuchs being thought of as a third gender as well.
If you study anthropology you'll find that gender identity in humans has always been diverse, there's no point getting upset over it!
Biologically even intersex people are more common than redheads! It comes with the territory of humans being one of the least sexually dimorphic species on earth. We are far closer on the dimorphism scale to gibbons than to spiders so there is bound to be some overlap in gender expression and you should be VERY glad. In most species with high sexual dimorphism, males do not have a good time!
The first drag queens came from the 80s but then those people were still underground and not well-known. I do not blame Gen Z; most of them are still in middle school. They are just the unfortunate victims of the situation. They are more prone to internet usage so they are the face of the gender pronoun movement.

Millennials DEFINITELY came up with the pronoun retardedness. Gen Z actually has little to do with woke culture, besides thinking transgenderism and being "non binary" are a cool fads, for some idiotic reason. There's way more rational and level-headed Zoomers than there are Millennials; so the latter are to blame for most of this extreme idiocy. I fully agree with you about losing all respect for anyone who does that, by the way. It's the equivalent of walking around in white makeup and a red honking nose. 🤡
I really don't have any idea who came up with all of this sillyness.
All I know is that my life is way to busy to sit there and figure out what annoys me about what we call each other, or inanimate objects.
I'm hoping that someday this like a bad taco shall pass and some sort of sanity will return.
some just neve figured on the ramifications that followed, women can compete in mens sports, can use the men's room etc, but to be equal now men compete in women's sports and clean house, or use their bathrooms and now we are starting to hear how it's not fair.
yes it is fair, because you can't have it both ways.
It all goes back to being careful what you wish for.i don't think either can be blamed. i think the thing that should be blamed for this bullshit is social media algorythms that push stuff to the surface that gets a lot of "engagement". so many people argue about this bullshit and get really angry discussing a lot. it creates lots of outrage. that's why it's even such a big thing that otherwise wouldn't have gotten much attention. and then it of course doesn't help that certain medical doctors are trying to make lots of money with unethical gender conversion stuff...
Gen Z for sure. Millenials grew up on the cusp of the technological boom. We were the last generation to still play outside and socialize without a phone or computer in our faces. The biggest levels of smartphone development did not even kick off until we were late teens/early 20s. We could get into a school fight and it was still just a child's squabble and police did not get involved. We did not shoot up schools every day just because someone pissed us off. Yes, there were some outliers, but all these serious problems in school come from Gen-Z, not millenials. In school, us millenials made jokes WITH OUR FRIENDS that would be considered bullying today. We still do so as adults and yet know we are friends and have each others' backs.
Normally millenials and gen-z have a lot in common, but us millenials knew where to draw the line and not get too politically correct.
Yay, I - a millennial, that has been a diseased minimum wage slave with a full time job AND full time study and then 2 jobs simultaneously just so i have a roof over my head and some bacon in my fridge and nothing more - am to blame for this. This is cool! Keep pointing those fingers at me and say "there he is! This is the scumbag millennial, that introduced gender pronouns that we have flying left and right today, LGBT Pride months and their open air parties! Give him hell for it!"
You really can't blame the young for what the are told to believe by those in-trusted with their 'education'.
The young lack the life experience, and knowledge to know any better. What you can blame the young for is the arrogance of believing even with said deficit that they could know better than their elders.
That there is the act of a real foolDon't be fucking stupid.
It's "Boomer" psychologists who manufactured the "pronoun wars," but are just shoehorning it as a generational thing.
Also, it's a "made in America" issue as no one else has it.
I believe The Old Baby Boomers that have political power. Started this mess to create fake hate and get people to vote more for one side over the other.
It's all a plan to divide the world politically and help set off the NWO and a globalist agenda.
You have no Idea whats coming and your not going to like it
As soon as I see someone has gender pronouns in their email signature, I immediately know I am dealing with a moron and act accordingly but of course I am nice to their face because I don't have time for bullshit. I just need to do my job and go home and I'm not looking to complicate my life by informing them that they are retarded.
Thats mostly millenials, and the people indoctrinating the millenials. Now the indoctrinated millenials are in power and they indoctrinate GenZ even harder. This trend needs to stop.
San Francisco is giving out free money. But on the application form, you have to choose which one of the 97 genders you are. Yes, you read that right. 97 genders.
Being "stupid" is not new. Accepting stupid is new.
I blame MAGA. They are so annoying that everybody trolls them with the pronoun stuff. It's just too fun watching them melt down. LOL!
Weird take.
Sure some people have nonstandard pronouns for attention.
Not everyone does though, some people genuinely feel like they don't fit within the binary gender system. Why does it bother you? Better Q for yourself. (Muting)
I'm right on the border and I don't know who started it
Think republicans don't know how to run an economy, so they love to start culture wars, to make up for it
this is why i don't vote republicuck. never have, never will
Better question is who should be blamed for the trend of people getting butthurt over what someone calls themselves. If a guy introduces himself as Tom I’m not gonna start screaming that his “real” name is Thomas.
I'm a millennial and I must say it's my generation that puts up with this BS and opens the door for Gen Z freaks which I seriously can't stand that damn generation at all.
Definitely gen-z and SOME Millennials. But only very young Millennials.
The evil one is responsible for it. It's a prime indication of the end times.
