How did we get to a situation in not that many years where an extreme left position like gay marriage is somehow a mainstream majority position?

In the defense of marriage act virtually every Republican voted for it and almost 2/3rds of Democrats voted for it. Now we have a situation where 25% of Republicans are voting for a radical leftist law to enshrine gay marriage federally. This country has collapsed so much values wise and in not that long. Not to mention much of the rest of the so called civilized world. It’s a slippery slope. And it only will continue to get worse as long as we let it. Boy, there are a lot of ignorant people these days. Makes my blood boil.

The same way an extreme left position like the abolition of slavery became mainstream: people realized that tradition alone doesn't justify something that inflicts horrible suffering on other people for reason other than "it's what we've always done". There isn't actually any REASON to deny gay people the (civic) right to marry each other, other than "it's what we've always done" and "I'm uncomfortable with it". Conservatives aren't inherently stupid, and eventually, self-reflection will lead them to realize that they're being inhumane, and if they're intellectually honest, they'll change those positions.

Claiming that wanting to defend people's right to marriage is somehow a LACK of morality doesn't lend much credibility to your assertion that other people are ignorant, though.

In a word propaganda by big tech. Their entire business model is built upon using information they collect on everyone to manipulate them into buying their advertisers products.

That they would use the same tecnoligy to manipulate people into buying policies goes without saying.

That's how a majority also ends up voting for a party with a track record of making everything more expensive to the point where we are struggling to put food on the table.

It’s unnatural and goes against an institution that has existed in society for all of recorded history?

Also, I believe in traditional values. With straight people I don’t know necessarily that they’re doing something I don’t agree with, the only type of sex gays can have are sodomy type ones. So I know what they’re doing I find immoral.

Do you wear shoes? They are not natural. If you were meant to wear them surely you would have been born with them.

Just because some hairy cave dwelling gents decided stuff a few thousand years ago does not make it have any extra validity in a different world. The world moves and from tolerance comes acceptance which leads to understanding. These are values which take into account we are all different. I accept this is how you want to live but you deny other people the freedom to live as they do by your restrictions

It's worse than that, actually- marriage itself is unnatural. Unless you're going beyond the meanings of the formal legal and social ceremonies, and referring only to monogamous pair bonding, in which case it's perfectly natural- but discriminating against it on the basis of orientation isn't.
