You cannot virtue signal, and claim "democracy" or "equality", until the people wronged have been compensated justly. It's why the civil rights movements and various constitution amendments by Western countries were required after the eventual abolition of slavery.
In the case of America, slavery never really was fully abolished, and is still exploited and protected by the 13th amendment. Many Blacks and immigrants today are imprisoned wrongly or on petty crimes. But regularly have their labour sold by the state to the profit of prison shareholders.
Just remember then, that your ancestors profited by slavery too. You get lots of cotton today. Besides, they were already compensated with 40 acres and a mule, which no white man got, poor or otherwise.
I doubt it will happen. It won't happen in California, so probably nowhere else either. Besides, all the extra money is going to Ukraine. How about the Japanese Americans who lost their homes, businesses, and jobs during WWII when they were put in internment camps, just because they had Japanese ancestry?
California is 76.1% Hispanic or Latino. 83% of that group are Mexican when it comes to country of origin. Thus Mexicans are the largest demographic group in California. Therefore lawmakers want Mexicans to pay reparations to Blacks. It's hilarious really.
The Mexicans wanted a corrupt state with rigged elections, so now they have the cost of a corrupt government putting a yoke of slavery on their shoulders to give privilege to Black people.
In reality Blacks will probably pay, because only a couple states will be offering up reparations which will cause all Blacks to migrate to those states for "free money" and then the demographics will shift to a Black majority who will be responsible for the tax burden.
Its actually fairly good for the economy and therefore good for the tax payer. These people in particular has failed to build up generational wealth making them poorer in society and less productive in the economy. By giving money directly to them you can therefore get a very high return on investments and get the economy rolling again.
@Avicenna Giving money to people who are struggling in society have two main advantages. First of all it will mean that all that money is spent in the local economy very quickly rather than end up in some hedge fund or other scheme to make money that rich people loves to do but provides no economic benefit.
This means that there is a 1 to 1 economic boost in the local economy where poor people live that both provides economic activity that can then provide jobs and economic growth as well as providing the struggling people with whatever items they require to become more productive in life such as food, medicine or whatever.
2ndly it is something that becomes taxed so aside from getting a 1 to 1 dollar for dollar investment in a sector that gives very high returns you also get a discount by getting some of that money back through taxes from the transactions.
In other words, its a very good way to invest money.

This is a way for democrats to buy back the black vote. This will never see the light of day and anyone who votes for these fakers is brain dead. Remember that Biden promised for pay off student debt even though it was widely known that he did not have the authority to give away that much money with just an executive order. The kids were all taken in with this and voted for these dishonest manipulators. I bet they feel pretty stupid now that they know they will not see a dime.
This is obviously virtue-signaling by the Democratic (i. e., Communist) Party. They have no plans to actually make these sorts of payments and are doing this virtue signaling to hold on to black voters, most of whom have been badly hurt by Democratic policies and corruption and would normally be open to voting for something different.
Since these sorts of payments can't be made on the public dime given the already bloated federal deficit and national debt of over $31 trillion, it's more likely that the Democrats would seize property and financial assets held by whites should they actually try to carry out this insane plan.
How is this money supposed to erase what happened hundreds of years ago to people that aren't even alive, anymore? My ancestors were slaves LONG before any blacks were!! Where's MY money? If they want this money, they better damn well get it from the African slave traders that sold them to us!!

It would make much better sense to use a fraction of that kind of money on improving poor minority areas in terms of education, health, policing, housing and facilities. Then on social education to grow healthy family environments with two parents.
The Black Africans sold them to everyone else so if anyone should pay up then It should be them, But it's all white money in the end anyway. White people send foreign aid to Africa then the pay out the American Negro.
