since I am somewhat in a similar situation, it has been clearly stipulated... if either of the parts cannot longer provide or require the service, we do have option to go elsewhere on both sides

but there are others in which you are bound to stick even if either part is not honoring their part, you're still tied to a contract, and can't break till it is released

and depending on the field, forget about legal ramifications, if they are the bigger component of the deal... they might be able to black list you, lol

I've seen many cases like that on my field so... best to try to talk about and compromise with a release, rather than just breaking contracts like that
