In America over 7 million working aged men have left the workforce with no plan of finding another job. How do they pay their bills?

I lost my job because of Covid and collected unemployment for 18 months. When the benefit ran out there was no extensions and no other programs to keep the checks coming so I had to find another job. I don't know how these people do it, especially guys with families.

Just because they lost unemployment insurance, doesn't mean they have no plan to find or create their own work. That's such a stupid myth that is propagated by legacy media. A lot of times people that get knocked out of the work force apply to thousands of jobs, and interview dozens to hundreds of times without successfully landing a job. Those are the times. We've basically been in an economic depression since the 2007–2008 global financial crisis. You have large swaths of the population out of work, but they won't call it unemployment because it dampens consumer confidence. So they lie their ass off, claim unemployment is low, and they can't find workers because they all have no plans to return to work. It's an unbelievable narrative, a bold faced lie when you look at participation numbers, well unless you're a brainwashed moron that hangs on every word legacy media fabricates. The reality is a lot of people are unemployed. A lot of people live with family. They take side jobs under the table when they can find them. They work to create their own businesses. They return to school to retrain in hopes of new job opportunities. They keep applying for supposed open job positions. They live frugally off of savings with minimal lifestyles. Many have taken to things like "van life", another word for homelessness but with a nice fuzzy propaganda bundle wrapped around it to make you feel nice about it. They even make TV commercials about it, but they won't say homelessness because that would be just as bad as saying unemployment or economic depression... When the government tells you not to worry that everything is fine, well that's when you're up shits creek without a paddle...

I worked for myself few years ago after many years in corporate IT and didn't want to do that stress anymore.

Then I got married and my wife preferred I not kill myself working so hard as it wasn't necessary and be stay at home house husband.

My skills went downhill over last 15yrs. If I wanted to find a job, I could do something, anything, but I don't have to right now. With inflation cooking our wealth away, I suspect a job will be in my future. If I found a good fit in sales I would. I have interests in learning, but it's hard getting going again, get focused, spend on new degrees and put in all the work. Like I'd be interested in being a social worker... but takes a lot to get there. or maybe a dating/relationship coach.

They demand politicians implement Universal basic income and vote for socialist/communists who want to do it.

Many also simply move back home with their parents, assuming they moved out in the first place and live rent free, and bill free then complain about how hard it is to find the perfect job that pays them 50 dollars an hour to barely do anything.

They can also qualify for any number of highly discriminatory government programs, that discriminate against those who make too much money.

Could you imagine the outrage if there was a government program that you had to make above say 80k a year to qualify for? to get free stuff, like SNAP, section 8 housing, free medical, etc? They would scream discrimination.

Yet when it is reversed and discriminates against the working class, people don't get outraged that it discriminates.

Housing, food and other things free, add in some charities and they are living the high road for awhile without having to work, having thousand dollar phones and nice cars.

This is why I say ALL government programs should not have a income check on it, if it is such a good program, all citizens should be able to get it, if they so choose. If it is too expensive, then it isn't a good program and should be discontinued.

I have given this a lot of thought because I started working when I was 16 to buy my food and clothes. I worked for 30 years because I had a son to raise by myself and bills to pay. If I became sick and missed some days of work, I was in real financial hardship.
I applied for Medicaid about seven years ago, and again recently and was turned down both times and I make way under the limit they have set to qualify. 🤷🏼‍♀️
The way I see it is the one's that don't want to work have to be living off of someone for free! There is no way around it.
Then the one's that don't have someone to support them end up homeless.
They might have enough money socked away from savings and some get inheritance from grandparents or parents who have passed on. They could also inherit their homes too.
Then there are those that are born into a wealthy family and they are rich.
Other than that, I don't know how anyone on their own could possibly survive without a job. Period.

either way going back into the workforce won't be the same especially with robots taking away labor jobs that are primarily held by men. women's air-conditioned office jobs are safe, funny isn't it.

Are they completely unemployed or are the doing something like Uber driving, door dash etc? Years ago before Covid when I was getting unemployment we could get benefits if we were working part time or in between temp jobs, so it extended the amount of time till we could find something full time or permanent. We were considered unemployed though because it was part-time or temp work.

I can't speak for other guys. But I've busted my a** my entire life saving for retirement. It wasn't so much covid but a work accident that precipitated my departure. I'd also worked my entire life without a real vacation. So I was really burnt out. Here's the problem I'm dealing with. I allowed myself to be exploited by my place of employment. I was put in a bad situation from a dwindling workforce that caused my accident. I've always been the type of person to keep my nose to the grindstone and save for a rainy day. But it's the realization as I was healing up that I make as much off my investments that I did at my job that has me question why should I go back? I don't need the money really. And the job isn't any safer. I'm just kind of fed up with employers. I guess that's my answer. Right now I'm just kind of enjoying some much overdue R&R. That may change. But for the moment I see no need to change it.

Actually I just found a guy on the streets yesterday that was in that situation, for six months.

Her girl left him with their son in charge of him. He didn't have money to eat himself.

I invited him to juice and pastries.

Some of those people might pick up "under the table" jobs that the don't have to claim as income, and are therefore invisible to the system.
