Yeah, that's the problem. That's the root cause of the GIG economy too. And the reason people coming out of college with a bachelor's degree are interviewing applying to 200 jobs that pay $50K. And it's the reason companies are putting out job descriptions for a receptionist job that requires a Master's degree and pays $35K.

None of that is the fault of our failed Capitalist economic system or the 1% Oligarchs hoarding the wealth of this nation.

Yeah. It's a two fold issue.

On one hand a lot of companies place ads for jobs they don't even have. They want to appear competitive to work for, and jeep applications on hand for fast replacements if needed. It's called ghost listing.

On the other during the pandemic, companies realized how hard they could work people with less coworkers for the same pay. That means that they have 0 incentive to hire more people than is absolutely necessary

Could be. But it could also be that too many people today have to work 40 hrs. A week just to be broke. That is NOT the American Dream! The first time home buyer age has risen to age 40. That is not the American Dream! You want people to work hard? That STARTS with there actually being a reward for it.

Companies are practically begging for people. If people aren't working it's because they aren't looking.

yes especially all the government employees that have been furloughed. Once you work for the government there is no way that you can become a productive member of society.

@midnightmoon05 think about it. You do not get MLK DAy , Presidents Day, Patriots Day, Veterans Day, or Columbus Day off. You are lucky to get a few sick days instead of 15 of them. You save to slug it through a snowstorm to go to work instead of having a snow day. Its a lot to get used to.

If i have to.. i'll do anyting to work. which i have.
being able to do any work is healthy for the mind/soul...

@midnightmoon05 I left the K-12 world to work for a major tech company. The money was good but it was a pretty big shock. They really expected me to put in a full days work.

blue collar jobs have a shortage of applications

white collar jobs have an excess of applications
