I studied American from America.
Well, strictly speaking - pardon the pun - I speak English. However, as an American I speak the American dialect.
That said, as a dyed in the wool Anglophile, I genuinely like the classic British accent. (Not so fond of Cockney. It's okay but it does not sound quite so refined.)
Anyhow, I love my country, but I like the UK's accent. Oh, and just to add to my eccentricities, I love "God save the King" and know all three verses. By contrast, I really detest "The Star Spangled Banner" - it is un-singable - and only know the first verse.
To add to those eccentricities, I am of Italian, German, French, Spanish and Polish descent. Not a scrap of English, Scots, Welsh or Irish in me. So how I came to that aforementioned Anglophilia I will never know.

I speak American English. You hear it in Pittsburgh, PA.
I have a few dialects:
*Kennedy English (pahk thuh cahh)
*Redneck (Y'all have a nace day, heah?)
*I can do "Brit" but I have to work my way into it.
*I can't do Irish despite my ancestry.
I speak a mix of British English and American English. British English is what’s taught in schools here but you hear more American English (movies, music, tv) so yeah, it’s become a mix.
