What is something you appreciate about the area you live?

I appreciate that it's safe and filled with small, mom and pop owned shops. It's a value I see on the east coast in general and I hope it can be sustained. I like to see people be successful, even after covid.

So my family focuses on supporting these small shops with our voting $'s, frequently.

I mis the times of early youth hanging out on the porch, chitchatting with people. That is a lost part of America that needs to return, and haven't found... everyone is isolated in their "castles".

I own 30 acres of oak grassland. My house is on the side of a west facing hill with a beautiful 180 degree view.
There are creeks, rivers and lakes nearby.

The towns 20 minutes to the west have a lot of big box outlets, chair restaurants and fast food.

The towns 20 minutes up the mountain to the east are historic, artsy and touristy. Lots of cool stuff happens at the fairgrounds. There are small farms and ranches and good farmers markets.

Shortly after we moved here, I got involved in a couple different organizations and got to know a lot of people. But the local government went full Nazi during covid and shut down all events for two years. Quite a few businesses were wiped out. People became alienated along partisan lines.

I doubt if things will ever be what they were before, but there are still lots of good people and I love living in such a beautiful and plentiful rural area.

sounds like a good place to live. unfortunate is controlled by such people who can wipe out others like that, without consequence to them.
