So, what is your opinion now about how de-funding the police worked or didn't work in America 🇺🇸?

It’s funny that the people that come up with these asinine notions often end up drastically harming the people they are claiming to protect.

Also if you come up with a stupid slogan like “defund the police” you better be ready to have people interpret it at face value.

I noticed leftists have this bs habit of spewing out a slogan and then later trying to say “oh we don’t literally mean that” or some other mental gymnastics crap. A much smarter option would be “reform the police” because that’s left up to interpretation. But they had to full stupidity with “defund the police”.

The "defund" is definitely the wrong term. The term should be FUND auxiliary personnel to aid police in cases of dealing with people with mental illness, AND re-educate police to RECOGNIZE people who are unstable and to CALL for that auxiliary help.

About 20 percent of our police forces should be professionally trained mental health personnel on call to meet police at situations where people are trying to jump off buildings, propose to shoot themselves, and/or their families, or active shooters. Psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and ancillary counselors should be 2 out of 10 police personnel.

These mental health "police" don't have guns, but have the expertise to deal with mentally ill people that regular officers DO NOT.

There should also be a new police officer who is both a police person AND a mental health worker. Would pay more and help everywhere. This would mean the police officer would have a B. A. or B. S,. or masters in social welfare or psychology. Police mental health AIDES would have been in a 2-year program in addition to their police academy training and would have associates in social welfare or psychology.

So there should be a strong impetus to REORGANIZE funding on the police force to cover problems that are currently occuring. We shouldn't shoot dead a father who's kidnapped his child due to a divorce argument. We shouldn't kill a mentally disturbed man who won't cooperate with police and stop when they tell him to because he's frightened.

The former was an actual case. This man was well known in his neighborhood and bothered no one and became fearful when the police accosted and questioned him and acted belligerent. The encounter ended in his death because he fought arrest. He had never been arrested or caused ANY problem to anyone!

Mental health consultants and mental health aide officers and officers with degrees in counseling and mental health would approach such instances in completely different manners. Regular officers with mental health education would also.

I got to give it to the Conservatives seeming to have a far better ability to see where these things are going to end up after it is done. I see it over and over again... Progressives come up with dumb idea, they push for dumb idea like their life depends on it... Conservatives start talking about dumb idea and pointing out why it's so dumb, but they never fight back hard enough to stop dumb idea. Dumb idea happens, then all the dumb results from dumb idea that conservatives said was going to happen, they just happen.

Reminds me of like a kid and an adult at a campfire. The adult says, "hey, you shouldn't play with fire, or you'll get burned." and then the kid is like "Fuck you old man! I'm smarter than everyone that has been burned before me." ... and then they fuck around and find out (they get burned). As they cry about their sick burn... the adult just chuckles and says, "I told you so."

What's the latest stupid thing I've been hearing about getting pushed? ... ah, reparations. Yeah... let's tax people based off race and give it to another race. Not racist at all is it? 😂 Here I am just saying, "Hey, that's going to lead to a bunch of bullshit."

It has been an unmitigated disaster. Gang violence and violent crime in general have gotten so bad that the feds aren't even attempting to accurately track it anymore. Huge numbers of cops have given up and quit because they know the criminals are just being let off or worse, they get prosecuted themselves and thrown under the bus by their own departments for literally nothing outside of their job parameters. The people running these cities and departments are all political shills looking out for themselves first and the cities second if at all. Entire cities with populations over a million have less than a thousand cops to patrol them and enforce the law.

"Defund the police" is another of the phrases designed to create controversy, not solutions. It means all sorts of thigs to different people. For some, it means spend more on social services and less on police. For others it truly means defund - remove all funding. Yet others really mean "reform". So most arguments are just sideways.

I don't think any sane person really wants to remove all police and not replace them - despite using the "defund" phrase. Maybe I'm wrong

for years cops have been under attack by the political left. BLM accusing them of racism by only highlighting white cops taking down black suspects, context be swept away and ignoring every other situation

feminists accusing cops of sexism because rape and domestic violence couldn't be prevented even though it's a pipe dream and cops aren't gods who can fix everyone's problems plus cops tend to arrest the man anyway regardless if he's guilty or not

If I'd still been living in American and the local city/town started with 'defund and dismantle the police' I'd have gone straight to my local FFL/Gun Shop and picked up as many boxes of 9mm Para & .410 Defence load Shells as I could. Because it would devolve into a 'when you need the the cops they're minuets away' situation, if they ever turn up at all.

I'd have been proven right as the crime rate went up after the crims realised that the police would not be there to intervene
