If democrats started the KKK why didn't republicans in the Jim Crow era do anything to stop the KKK?

Republicans always like to point out how democrats started the KKK yet I never seen one instance where Republicans from the Jim Crow Era did anything to stop the democrats from forming the KKK.

People in this country do not seem to understand that the south was completely Democrat before civil rights. Go look at an electoral map. The south is all red now but it used to be all blue. They all switched parties over civil rights. It's the same people. If you were a "Democrat" when the KKK was started, then you'd be a Republican now. Trying to merely say "Democrats" started the KKK is highly misleading. "Conservatives" were "Democrats" then and "conservatives" started the KKK if you want to actually say it correctly.

They weren’t champions of civil rights at the time either and when the Democrats began to embrace equality, those southern Democrats became republicans. It’s why the south is still red today. Conservatives like to cherry pick that piece of history without giving it any context to distract from their own views on race. They literally are the southern democrats of old.

The KKK was quite popular in the South during the civil rights movement, and there were a lot of Republicans who lead, but honestly, it appears that people don't get all the facts and point fingers.
