Is prefer Hutchinson vs Biden, as it would show the GOP has done a proper job of excising it's extremists. But I'd settle for DeSantis as at least the perception of a tiny baby step from the far right ledge. Going to vote for Biden in any case, though. The man has been absolutely astonishing. His one glaring mistake, the reason he is so hated, is because he wants to raise the taxes of everyone who owns the media. And so the negative coverage is nonstop.

Oh, and RFK is a far right candidate who should be running as a republican, if at all. But Flynn, Stone, Bannon, etc are trying to create an "unfair primary" narrative to divide Democrats like they did in 2016. They know they just need to discourage a few thousand people in a handful of swing states and they walk away with another victory for the far right.

Nor should they, because it isn't their job to "favour" any presidential candidate over the other. They're supposed to remain impartial and just report the facts, but of course they never do this, and so people have to turn to non-mainstream sources.

@Siri137 sadly, non mainstream sources don't even try to hide their preference for a candidate. There was a brief time after January 6th where the media seemed to really want to Biden to succeed for the good of the country, but by around January 10th they slipped back into contemptuously hoping it all burns down if they can't have their christian nationalism.

The only source I've come across that seems to keep partisanship largely out of it is AP. But there's no commentary. And one could argue there shouldn't be but the simple fact is people just don't have time to get PhDs in every topic in the media every day. Someone to dig up the relevant backstory can be useful. Unfortunately, most commentators only dig up the backstory that confirms their bias - or perhaps rather digs up the backstory to their own bias.

The Atlantic seems like it is full of writers who try to strive for objectivity, but of course that is ultimately unobtainable (still important to try, though). They did seem to recruit intelligent people from all over the political spectrum. David Frum, for example, is a former Bush speechwriter. I probably disagree with most of his policy positions, but I can't deny he's really good at making his point.

It's just so time consuming to peel through the layers of bias with every news thing there is to watch. I will say I watched a few MSNBC segments where they spent a lot of time emphasizing that their own story was only speculation. That got my respect.

As much as I would love to see Trump back in just to rub it in everyone's face, I think it will most likely be Biden for another 4 years.
I only say that because whatever you think is gonna happen in American politics, the exact opposite will happen.

If people don't know Biden is senile by now I just don't get it. My grandfather had advanced dementia so I know what it is and Biden has all of that and I knew it way before the last election. He's got to be on some kind of powerful medication the rest of us don't even know about just to be able to do the limited appearances he has done.

It would be nice to see someone other than Biden or Trump. One is clueless and the other is too opinionated. If Trump would keep his mouth shut and just worry about the job in hand, maybe. He has to constantly downgrade everyone and the illegal immigrants, God! He said the other day if he gets elected again, he is going to abolish the amendment where if an illegal immigrant is born in America, they automatically become a citizen. That amendment has been in the constitution forever. I don't support anyone who is trying to re-write the constitution because history has shown us it becomes problematic.

I wonder if this Rober Kennedy guy would be a better choice. I've heard mixed reviews about him, but you never really know. Hell, he might show them all up! ( or he might not).

I fear for this country if Biden and Trump end up being the only two choices.

Trump handed Biden a working vaccine, a stockpile of respirators and an economy that was so strong that covid just seemed like a bumping the road. The so called impeachment you mention were both fake. The Russian collusion one was based on a fake dossier that Hillery paid for. Mexico did not pay for the wall but they agreed to keep the illegals in Mexico until their court date. That may have been just as effective a deterrent. It was Joe Biden that left the unused wall sections that the taxpayers paid for rusting on the ground. Biden could have gone down in history as a pretty good president if he just left all the stuff that was working alone. Instead he is the worst president in American history or maybe the whole world.

That guy is a fool. He unfavourably compares the amount of textual evidence for someone who lived during the first century, approx. 2,000 years ago, to someone who lived during the 18th. Of course there won't be anywhere near as much evidence for Christ as there is for Washington, for the simple and obvious reason that paper, being the fragile and extremely combustible material that it is, will not last very long unless a real effort is made to preserve it.

He lived in the exact same time and the bible even claimed he met Jesus. We have proof he existed, but nothing from Jesus. Pontius Pilate was just a governor but we have writings about and from him. Jesus supposedly raised the dead but we have 0 documents from him or about him at the time of his existence. Are Christians claiming Jesus could raise the dead but he didn't know how to write?

Maybe you're not aware of this, but there were many self-proclaimed "messiahs" during the first century in Roman-occupied Palestine, and he was almost certainly one of these figures. I don't believe that Jesus could raise the dead, or perform any other miracles, but just because there is no (or little) evidence for the miracles that were allegedly performed, that doesn't mean a character like Jesus didn't exist at all.
Pontius Pilate was a high Roman official, so of course he could read and write, and so it stands to reason he left more documents behind, but the majority of people within the empire were illiterate, so you shouldn't be surprised by the lack of documents left behind by Jesus of Nazareth. He was probably illiterate as well, even though there is that (disputed) passage in the New Testament where he supposedly writes on the ground.
