"Overwhelming discussion on sexual orientation and gender identity" - they don't want that. That's disinformation. They'd prefer if you actually understood their situation and didn't want to cancel them, but lacking that understanding, they'd be fine with being left alone until you did.
"Gender-affirming care" means injecting children with so-called "puberty blockers" that are actually chemical castration drugs that were used on sex offenders, followed by cross-sex hormones that cause permanent harms such as infertility and various health problems such as osteoporosis.
"Protections for trans people" usually means getting people fired from their jobs or, in some countries like Canada, thrown in jail for using the "wrong" pronouns.
