Trending & News We are all doing as well as can be beciase of the choices we made. That’s all my siblings…we came with nothing…literally nothing. Not even shoes to wear. Our parents came and had our baby sister…4 kids, one income.. my dad used to come home in the subway and was robbed by the Mexican after he got paid. But we never recent anyone…we just continue to build our lives and our wealth as a family…Being in the US we had the opportunity to get to where we are...
we are now trying to help our little sister who is US born…she is kinda brain washed by getting into loans and debts. We are planning to give her cash to buy her next apt/house…but her and her husband are brained washed to believe there are good debts..(I used to think the same). Hope she comes around to just buy with cash and start investing to build wealth.
I can retired…but in my mind…I have a lot of plans … once my daughter is done with HS. I am planning to move to another area to do other stuff that will bring us more money…. Few years back I told my husband…I need to tame my ambitions and stop investing…well…didn’t happened.. I guess I’ll just continue doing what I’m good at.
By this point…we have set aside money for kids college as well as their future homes…but they have to earn it and pay part of it.
the goal is to raise our next generation to not depend on the govt. so that they are always ahead.
I understand why so many risk their lives to come to the US…many can make it to the top…but if they get brain washed by the US system … they will fail terribly… or they can take the opportunity to make a good life for themselves and their future generations.
No. A lot of money (getting it) I feel is a social thing. If you're not skilled in the charms department where people throw money at you because you are charming, a good actor, influencer, etc. then you then have to be good at some skill that garners people to pay you a lot. If you're not of those two you, will struggle.
no because nobody especially a man should be ever truly complacent in their lives
if Michael Jordan was satisfied with only 1 NBA championship and 1 NBA Finals MVP, he'd never won 6 NBA championships and 6 NBA Finals MVPs
if Roger Federer was satisfied with only 1 Grand Slam, he'd never won 20 Grand Slams
if Mike Tyson was satisfied with only 1 world title, he'd never have won 16 world titles
men of this caliber are often admired and respected for good reason. they're never complacent because complacency leads to comfort and comfort leads to softness
Exactly. You can be doing well but still work hard to do better.
@zeitgeist057 Yes, that's what I think.
no, My wife and I worked really hard our whole lives. We played by the rules, paid our billes, sent our kids to college and paid a mortgage. We were thinking about retirement but now with Covid and having Biden in the White House the cost of living has almost doubled and our retirement account has suffered. The situation gets a little worse every day and we are both afraid to leave the jobs we have because nobody would want to hire somebody in their 50s, especially since we do not belong to one of the protected classes.
What are the protected classes?
I think there are ways you two can be flexible to live in a good situation to not feel stuck and controlled by the govt.
Even being from a "protected class" doesn't protect you really.
@TenderFantasy At least you cannot get fired. That would be racist.
@exitseven I've actually been in this situation sadly. However, there's really ways around it. They can say it's your performance or work ethics, etc. but it's hard to prove it was about race. They could always make the environment unwelcoming and intimating and difficult to where you WANT to quit. They'd be able to get away with it you can bet on that.
@TenderFantasy yes but most places do not want to take the chance of getting sued. I worked in a place like that and once I interviewed some people to work in my department and the HR guy wanted me to hire the black guy. I told him that he took the little test that I gave to all the candidates and he got them all wrong. It made no difference to him. He would have filled his quota and would not have to deal with an incompetent technician. Fortunately the HR guy went on vacation and when he got back it was all over.

No. I don't have a job, probably can't get one from here, I get a monthly check for about $470 and have to blow $460 on my storage unit, my stupid aunt mortgaged this house about 3 weeks before she died so she would have more money to give to her scammer buddies that already ripped her off for at least $11,000,000!! And now I'M stuck having to pay the bank to be able to keep it and I no longer have anywhere near what the bank wants!! Partly because she did the same with her car which I just finished paying off half a year ago!!
Thanks,
Can you sell the house?
@midnightmoon05 And go where? This is my grandmother's house and all I've got left of my family and my life!
I don’t know your situation…sometimes we have to think outside the box and make changes. That decision can be life changing for good or bad.
@midnightmoon05 I'm not 100% but I THINK I was just told a few days ago that they've decided to put the deed for the house in my name! If that''s the case, NOW I can start making some changes around here, get my stuff up here from storage and start looking for at least some more voice acting work! If I can ever find grandma's candy molds, I can start making and selling Easter & Christmas candy,. again!!
That’s great to hear!! Sounds like there’s light at the end of the Tunnel!
@midnightmoon05 I sure as hell hope so!! I've been in the tunnel for at least 7 years, now!! But, I still have to deal with coming up with the money to buy this house back from the bank because my STUPID aunt mortgaged it 3 weeks before he died to give it all to her scammer buddies!!
Do you know if there are any equity in the house?
And how much is it worth?
@midnightmoon05 According to the bank, somewhere between, 23 and 28,000.
That’s the equality? If it is…it’s a good start if you have no other debts.
If you want to discuss further privately… feel free.
@midnightmoon05 Equality?
I have no other debts but she sure did!!
Maybe we'll switch to the cone of silence.
@midnightmoon05 I have no idea what equity is.
Typo…sigh …
Equity. Say if the house is worth $300k (if you sell it)
The mortgage left is $100k (you own the bamk and have to pay the bank every month.)
You make $200k after selling and paying the bank off.
$200k can help you do a lot of things.
No debt is awesome! Good for you!
@midnightmoon05 They gave her about a 23 or 28,000 mortgage. Last I heard, the interest has raised it to at least 38,000. No idea if I actually have to pay that. I asked my lawyer last week what the situation is and I got no answer from him!!
With over 62,000 records, 5 sets of drums, 4 synths and over 1000 DVD's? I would need a fleet of them? And, who would drive them? I don't have a license.
This IS a small place!!
Right now, the solution is, where am I gonna get the money to buy it back from the bank? 2 years ago, when I WANTED to start paying them, I could've afforded $1000 a month , hoping I could get some work to make more money but, they pissed around all this time and a lot of my money is gone on bills and taxes!!
If they sell, where do I stay?
No relatives or friends left.
I am in US. How could/would you help me?
Well, thank ya!
So far I'm okay but with inflation running around 8% (I live in the UK) it's not clear how long I can maintain an acceptable lifestyle. The country is circling the drain right now. Thank you Mr. Sunak.
The country went down the drain when the tories got in lmao. It got worse with Truss. Whole country is a mess :(
We need a general election now
@chicken_nugget24 The Tories are a continuation of Labour policies, who in turn will hyper ramp up Tory policies when they come into power.
Both parties are in favour of out of control spending, migration, climate policies. Government debt is now 100% of GDP, inflation is out of contol, £400 billion of public (my) money was squandered on ruinous covid policies - paying people to sit on their fat arse all in the name of 'health'. 900 billion quantitative easing during the pandemic. Labour wanted even more restriction and lunacy fascist style like Adern and the Scottish fish named bint whose name escapes me.
It's disturbing that people still believe one party is better than other. Can you imagine Labour during Covid? We'd have a Chinese style pass system to board a train, and we'd still be shitting and masking ourselves to this day.
I still wear face masks for my anxiety lol but yeah, you're right they are all the same
@Levin First the Tories promoted "herd immunity", then when they realised how many people would die they introduced a belated lockdown plus a half-assed track and trace system. A timely lockdown could have resulted in a reduced spread of the disease and fewer deaths, as was the case with our European neighbours. However I do think any government should be assessed by what they do, not by what they claim they would have done.
Not really.
Unfortunately I'm a late bloomer. And it's not a good time to be a late bloomer in my country.
House and mortgage prices have gone mental. Stupid policies have been instituted by morons and now we're all paying the price.
Having said that, I'm more fortunate than many. I could I'm sure, accumulate more money. But my soul is worth more.
Happy, not satisfied.
Because I never thought I'd be financially secure when I was younger. I grew up poor financially but we always had love. Still the lack of funds tempered my resolve to succeed. I never thought I'd be as well off as I am financially at this age. And while I'm happy now where I'm at i think my youth marked me. I don't know if I'll ever be fully satisfied. I feel locked into the need to constantly trying to do better.
Good luck bro. Keep trying.
Thanks man! You as well. I look at it as I've won the game already though. Now I'm just putting extra points on the board.😆
You're welcome!
My wife and my incomes are just about equal to our bills. But costs have been increasing. I have to dip into my IRA on occasion and hope it doesn't run out.
So I am a little bit concerned, but we're going ok for now.
I'm in pretty good shape. Mostly retired, working part-time (my choice, not required for financial reasons) with investments that I've saved over my career. I'm not wealthy, but I (and my SO) and okay financially.
Very, very fortunately we have no worries or issues to be concerned about.
Yes, I make more money that I can spend.
@Nikki1989
I could perhaps find some room in my purse, if this would help you out! lol
Oh, absolutely! I'm on track barring any major health issues to semi retire at 50. I'd work a 4 hour a day job at Walmart or something just to maintain. Or.. I could go to 53 then sell my home and buy a Winnebago. Live out my years on the road in a top of the line camper!
I am nowhere near ready to be retired, but I think I am doing slightly better than the majority of my peers.
I should still do/make more aty next job hop, but I don't worry about money the way I used to when I had $24k in debt and made $19hr.
My wife and I are doing pretty good financially, all things considered, but because of our retirement savings goals and trying to pay off some loans early, our checking account still can get dangerously low sometimes.
I'm stuck living with mom and dad. I can't afford a place of my own
No. I make very good money but the cost of living here is astronomical, it’s near impossible to get ahead
No. But it’s because I left my job, lol.
I saved enough, but I’ll be going back to school so I’ll have to be stingy starting in September of this year 💁🏾♀️
I am but that won't stop me from "reaching for the stars!"
I'm "a few 'pennies' shy" of my target net worth.
Not so much. We're paying for 2 to 3 college tuitions at a time. We have so many home improvements on the back burner, no vacations, no discretionary money at all.
@TrueConfection Been there. Hang tough. It will not be forever.
@exitseven Thanks X7. I'm happy we're paying for their schools, but it bothers me most when my husband or kids complain.
I"m pretty happy. Obviously I'd be happy with more but I have enough to do the things I enjoy doing.
I'm perfectly happy with where my life and my families lives are financially. Took a lot of work to get here.
No because last year it started declining big time. All those years of saving up just for shit to hit the fan
I guess I try to keep my living expenses as cheap as possible, without being a complete cheapskate. I'm satisfied at the moment.
Fact im hovering over lake cheapskate myself
Best wishes to you sir in better fortunes someday🤞
I think everyone can confidently say they need a little bit more cash.
The young people of the US get what they deserve if they vote for Biden again. He will destroy them financially. Biden and friends will do just fine however.
No.
Billionaires and corporations are being taxed less than me.
Yes, I have plenty of money and plenty of opportunity to make a lot of money in the future and a safety net in place if I ever became unable to work. And family wealth anyway.
Could be better, whenever we need to pay for something big, like car repairs, we struggle.
I have been very fortunate with my finances and planning, so I'm in really good shape.
No because I want to be self sufficient and comfortably.
Far from it.
I aim to become rich by trading crypto CFD and stock options. I am still in the very early phases of trading.
Absolutely. I'm in a very good place financially and career wise.
I'm so over having to deal with ruthless ambition... don't get me wrong, live a great life you deserve it... just keep the junkie level of hungry for accumulation to yourself please I'm sickened by it lol
Hell no, I can't get anywhere or do anything with how little I'm paid
No. I've lost $175k a year, every year since covid. I used to have 4 guys working for me every day going out in 2 trucks while I go out getting more work. Now I'm doing all the work myself since I had to let everyone go.
absolutely not... i'm extremely poor. ideally i wanna be a pastor, influencer and sellinh useful products
I can do better but I am not exactly struggling.
Not in the slightest. I'm broke.
I'm doing OK.
Yeah but always looking to make more
Because I'm. in debt and I'm broke 🤣
Yes. I'm 24 living with my boyfriend's parents. I have no job due to my mental health issues.
Where I live, I'm the UK, the inflation is awful. And I'm paying off student debt and other debt
No. I doubt if I will ever
I just came here to slap bitches.
I don't talk about my money.
striving for more!
But I push myself to do better
Yes.
I’m doing well
