Reverse discrimination is still discrimination. Affirmative Action was always unconstitutional.
Whoever is the most qualified should get the job or the scholarship. You shouldn't get admitted to a university just because you are black or mexican.

Of course it's a good thing. Affirmative action has obviously been very racist from the start. Factoring applicants' race into admission or hiring decisions is extremely racist and unfair, to the SCOTUS decision is nothing but positive.
Now they need to do the same thing with sex. I have seen a ton of discrimination against males in the same way. White males in the US have been systematically discriminated against for many years.

Besides recent (especially white) male discrimination in college admissions, what are examples of the most blatant “systemic male discrimination” that you’ve seen?
College admissions and employer hiring practices are the primary examples, but white men are just generally treated poorly in society compared to women and nonwhites.
Yeah definitely. So called "toxic masculinity" is just another example of the toxicity and misandry of modern feminism. The irony is that feminists themselves are the most prolific examples of the behavior they label as "toxic masculinity".
Yes. It's basically unfair. I got rejected for college multiple times because I'm white Hetrosexual Christian. So to get in I had to lie to get in by pretending I'm Hispanic, lesbian, non-binary, gender fluid, trans Muslim. Had to dye my blonde hair jet black, use fake tan and wear contacts to make my blue eyes brown.
I voted F -no in the poll - not because it addressed discrimination against Asian Americans, but because affirmative action recognizes the ongoing need to address discrimination against Black and Hispanic individuals. The decision to repel does not alter the fact that this issue requires attention. The reason I supported affirmative action is that it serves as an imperfect mechanism to help rectify existing inequalities and promote greater fairness among different racial and ethnic groups.

“Fighting past racism with present racism” is “promoting greater fairness”?
The goal of affirmative action aims to address existing discrimination without promoting present racism. The goal is to provide equal opportunities. I already said it was imperfect and needs improvement. Remember, the actual people and money behind the move to repel have different goals in mind. You can look all that up at the NY times website.
“Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities operated by recipients of federal funds.…”
@gagname I am aware of the federal laws as much as I disagree with any federal funding for education. The federal goverment has to operate under very strict limits. That should have excluded congestion into domestic issues they can't be held accountable for like education but nonetheless applies to everything they do.
I'm OK with that, all affirmative action does is permit schools to admit students based on the color of their skin and not the merits they bring to the table.

Which answer-option letter did you select in the poll?
So the reason why this needed to be shut down is because there’s realistically no way this can be executed how people want it to executed because we live in a capitalist country - in which the government would need to benefit from this in some kind of way. That would mean possibly screwing over people not going to college and actually putting the country at risk of going into Great Depression.
Them taking a student that would've done just fine in a community college with me, with the same scores, and then taking them and throw them into an Ivy League school instead because they have a certain color of skin... and then they fail. That's not helping their community... it was taking their average, like me, and setting them up for failure.
But people of certain political leanings don't seem to think that far ahead... and they are racist. Stick to meritocracy would be my advice to them.
Why are they racist? Because they're judging people based on their race instead of merit.
Discrimination by race, sex or gender dysphoria is illegal and Unconstitutional. Other than for academic merit, why should anyone be favored? The law will look at legacy and sports admissions next.
Affirmative action was banned by initiative in California some years back (for public U's only) and they found some creative ways to keep minority enrollment at a decent level, though it did drop somewhat as a result.
So probably not as big a deal as they're making it.

Uh huh…”admissions policies…that take an applicant’s race into account” [Note: This quotation is from article in UPDATE 2 on this question] is an example of REAL “systemic racism.”
There are fewer people affected by this than there are drag queens in Nashville. LOL Colleges like Harvard or Yale admit up to 33% of legacy kids so long as they have the money. Otherwise, they all want the best and the brightest, and guess what --- that's usually Asian students.
Admission to our higher education learning facilities should be by merit and ability not because we need a certain race to stay compliant with the law.

What do you mean by “because we need a certain race to stay compliant with the law”?
Note 1: Choose the answer-option in the poll that most closely matches your response to this question.
Note 2: Please state in your comments WHICH ANSWER-OPTION LETTER you selected in the poll.
A - I’m NOT an American B - HELL YES C - Yes D - No E - HELL NO
Note: The only “law” I’m aware of is Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which states…
“No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Ok. Yeah, white men have definitely been trashed in society in recent years.
Oh and I just thought of an example of some very over-hyped societal male discrimination: “Toxic Masculinity”
Yeah definitely. So called "toxic masculinity" is just another example of the toxicity and misandry of modern feminism. The irony is that feminists themselves are the most prolific examples of the behavior they label as "toxic masculinity".

With Public money comes the requirement for equal treatment and application of the law regarding said money.
Which answer-option letter did you select in the poll?
“FEDERAL FUNDS”…
“Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities operated by recipients of federal funds.…”

I voted hell yes. Fighting racism with racism was just yet another one of the dumbest things I've seen coming from this country.

If you want to go to a prestigious university, you have to put in the work just like everyone else. 100% support this.

Yes, if we are ever going to achieve equality we have to stop giving certain groups special treatment
finally an end to institutional racism! cause that's what affirmative action really is.
Uh huh…”admissions policies…that take an applicant’s race into account” [Note: This quotation is from article in UPDATE 2 on this question] is an example of REAL “systemic racism.”
yeah it's so weird that professionally offended sjws see the racism in everything BUT the one thing that is actually racist.
the fucked up thing is that affirmative action actually harms black people while claiming to help them.
It's time to erase racism from our higher institutions. Good on the court.
How did you vote in the poll—Yes or HELL YES?
There are fewer people affected by this than there are drag queens in Nashville. LOL Colleges like Harvard or Yale admit up to 33% of legacy kids so long as they have the money. Otherwise, they all want the best and the brightest, and guess what --- that's usually Asian students.
Seems like corrupt college recruiters taking bribes is more important than rolling back civil rights. But whatever.
Which answer-option letter did you select in the poll?
I don’t know.
And neither do the rest of us if we’re honest. We’re not in college admins, nor are most of us marginalized.
Admission to our higher education learning facilities should be by merit and ability not because we need a certain race to stay compliant with the law.
What do you mean by “because we need a certain race to stay compliant with the law”?
Do you understand what affirmative action even was?
Yes, but I don’t understand what you you mean by saying “to stay compliant with the law”…What law?
Or do you mean that colleges/universities want to reach a school-established minority-quota for their incoming classes?

Disregard the first part about the USFL…that’s gonna be my next GAG question!
FYI - I just posted that question:
AMERICANS: Tonight (Sat July 1, 2023) is the USFL Championship Game (8 pm Eastern on NBC)…Have you been watching USFL games this season? ↗
Not American so picked A. But yeah its a good ruling. Racism is bad.
Thank you for voting and commenting.
affirmative action should be abolished. it is literally lawful discrimination
This is a very good decision by the Court and way overdue.
