i will say no cus thats just taking freedom away. also, if the dad isn't ready for the child or if the mom isn't ready for the child then... they should at least put it up for adoption. not abandon it. i would also ask a family member to raise it for me if im not ready.
No, I don’t think it should be banned. However, I do believe that it shouldn’t be abused. It without question should be allowed in cases of rape, incest, or when the birth would cause harm to the woman. I don’t think women should be given an option to have unprotected sex, and not deal with any consequences.
Yes. But if it isn't banned then men should not be required to pay child support if they don't wish to. Then the man has a right to his money, just like the woman has a right to her body.
American society is totally gender integrated. Banning abortion would result in an incredibly tragic health crisis. I am anti abortion but I would not support an abortion ban in America.

No. It’s a personal choice and government shouldn’t be trying to control anyone’s reproduction in the name of religion.

@AlwaysLost1 It most certainly is. A fetus has no rights. Keep your mythical religions to yourself.
@AlwaysLost1 I'm a Catholic, but I do not base my views on abortion on religion but on science. Fertilised egg is already a separate organism as it has all life body functions.
@AlwaysLost1 Your fascist views are the minority view and my reproduction is absolutely none of your business. You decide what happens to your own body. Ok cupcake? Also, you’re using an anonymous screen name coward. You didn’t reveal your identity either.
@Cubus That’s your definition. It has no legal or historical basis. It’s not even a majority opinion in society. Disabled people are clearly self aware except in rare and extreme circumstances. They also are born and not part of someone else’s body any longer. You worry about your body, I’ll worry about mine. Society functions much better when we keep our noses out of each other’s business.
Wikipedia: Personhood is "a status of being a person"
Person is "a being who has certain capacities or attributes such as reason, morality, consciousness or self-consciousness, and being a part of a culturally established form of social relations such as kinship, ownership of property, or legal responsibility."
So yep. Unborn children are person. And it's not my defition :)
You don't even have sources for this. Just claim it.
"They also are born"
Ok, and? Birth is not a point that starts life.
"and not part of someone else’s body any longer"
Unborn baby is also not a part of someone's else body A body part is defined by the common genetic code it shares with the rest of its body; the unborn’s genetic code differs from his mother’s.
@Cubus A fetus has reason, consciousness and self-consciousness? That’s clearly not true and has never been demonstrated in any way. Your own definition laughably supports what I’m saying. Polls for many years have shown that a majority of Americans support legal abortion. You can easily look that up yourself. Abortion is a loser politically. A fetus isn’t part of a mothers body? They are literally connected and share a blood supply, oxygen, nutrients, etc. Read a book. Your ignorance is breathtaking. You have no legal or ethical right to control my reproduction. If you are that against abortion, the best course of action for you is to just keep your dick in your pants. Control your own reproduction and you won’t feel compelled to control other people.
@Cubus That rant is too long to waste time sifting through but laws are based on the will of the people. There aren’t static moral standards that don’t change. People decide what is moral and those views evolve over time. Overturning Roe was a temporary victory but public attitudes have shifted. The majority supports legal abortion and eventually we will have it legal everywhere again. When abortion bans are soundly rejected by voters in deeply conservative Kansas, the writing is on the wall. People instinctively want more individual rights, not fewer and sticking with authoritarian religious zealotry isn’t going to be a winning strategy in the long run. Good luck with that but don’t say I didn’t tell you so.
@Cubus I COULD respond to your comments. I chose not to read them because of the unusual length. If you perceive that as some kind of victory, then knock yourself out. I’ll tell you what, whatever you post in reply to this, make it really long. I’ll skip it again and you can feel like you hit the lottery twice. What a rube 🙄
@Cubus Yes, I could have replied but didn’t because I didn’t read through your lengthy post. That’s what happened. I didn’t care enough to expend that much effort on your nonsense. I guess your argument is that reality is a weak excuse? I don’t know what else to make of that. You even misquoted me. It’s stunning.
It should be legal under some circunstances abd we should promote more the anticonceptive methods... also culture about abortion should change because nowadays its a mess.
It should not be banned completely because the country is not ready for this and it would result with counter-reaction, just like with Prohibition. It has to be made slowly step by step.

Not completely banned, but saved only for emergencies.
It should not be banned entirely, but should only be available in cases of rape, incest and threat to the health or life of the mother.
Abortion should not be available as just another birth control option, which is how it is used in 95% of abortions. That's disgusting.

It is not in the name of religion. There's a lot of secular pro-lifers.

"You decide what happens to your own body"
To your body - yes. But not to the body of another person.
@Cubus A fetus is not a person and has never been considered so under US law. A fetus is not self aware. A fetus has no rights. It’s livingv
…. it’s living tissue totally dependent on my body. So yes, my body, my rights. Keep your religion mythology to yourself.
Disabled person is also not self aware and nobody believes he/she is not a person.
Personhood is properly defined by membership in the human species, not by stage of development within that species.

Except it's not my definition.

Using your logic a child 6 a few months after birth also doesn't have self-consciousness. Yet, you don't argue it's not a person. Quite hypocritical.
" Polls for many years have shown that a majority of Americans support legal abortion."
In the past most people supported slavery too.
"A fetus isn’t part of a mothers body? They are literally connected and share a blood supply, oxygen, nutrients, etc. Read a book."
Let's see what "part" is. Merriam-Webster" definition:
1 a :" one of the often indefinite or unequal subdivisions into which something is or is regarded as divided and which together constitute the whole"
Is an unborn child your subdevision or you are not "whole" without a baby in yout womb? No.
b :"an essential portion or integral element"
Is a baby in your womb "your integral element"? No.
c (1) : an exact divisor of a quantity
Is the baby in your womb your "exact divisor"? No.
d : one of the constituent elements of a plant or animal body: such as
(1): ORGAN, MEMBER
Is the baby in your womb such? No because the baby has different DNA than mother.
2: something falling to one in a division or apportionment
Is the baby in your womb such? No.
3: one's share or allotted task (as in an action)
Is the baby in your womb such? No.
4: one of the opposing sides in a conflict or dispute
Is the baby in your womb such? No.
5: a general area of indefinite boundaries
Is the baby in your womb such? No.
6: a function or course of action performed
Is the baby in your womb a "function"? No.
8: a constituent of character or capacity
Is the baby in your womb such? No.
I skipped the definitions that discuss literature or music as they are obvious.
So, it seems you are wrong. Baby is not a part of mother's body :)

Admit it: you lost :)

Saying "I could counter your arguements but decided not to" is a very weak excuse.

No. That would work just as well at getting rid of it as banning guns does.
the law ALREADY passed in The House, just not presented to senate. it is a wonderful compromise classic of trump style success.
Nope. No child should be born in unwanted hands. Period.
No, but it will be regulated by the States. Some, like Cali and NY will not restrict it at all, others will ban it, or close to that.
It should be legal under some circunstances abd we should promote more the anticonceptive methods... also culture about abortion should change because nowadays its a mess.
No. Banning abortions is a human right violation, and a privacy violation.
I guess the baby is not considered human
@joesheks fetuses do not have personhood and are not subject to the law.
To the point that practitioners will be hunted down no matter where they run to!
Banning abortion will only make it unsafe. And people should not force their retarded beliefs about a soul into the law.
Until men get an equal say in the decision making. Otherwise yes
No. While I would hope that women would choose life, why would anyone trust giving the government the power to intrude into someone's life like that?
It should not be banned completely because the country is not ready for this and it would result with counter-reaction, just like with Prohibition. It has to be made slowly step by step.
I am fully in favor of abortion if the converse financial abortion is there for men.
No. But it hasn't been and isn't going to be anytime soon, so I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
