I think it should be but that’s for individual states to decide not the federal government it’s called federalism we do not have a centralized government or at least that’s not how it’s set up if California wants to have abortion let California have abortion it can be legal in the state of California if Texas wants to make abortion illegal they will make abortion illegal it will be illegal in the state of Texas

OK. Mine is simply: no. I'm not religious, but I appreciate the Church of England's take on the matter: "The Church of England’s stated position combines principled opposition with a recognition that there can be strictly limited conditions under which abortion may be morally preferable to any available alternative."
I await with interest the approach anti-choice Americans take to banning abortions federally, when they've just potentially won the right to ban abortions as states' rights. Gilead, here we are. - +1 y
If the Supreme Court leak winds up being an accurate decision, there won't be any ban (or anything) federally. One way or the other, the ruling is "states' rights", not "federal ban on the right to choose". That means in reality, not much will really change in the number of "safe" abortions, because the majority of safe abortions already take place in liberal states that are heavily populated. The only heavily populated state where there'll probably be major pro-life changes will be Texas, and possibly a few populated swing states, like Florida and Ohio. Conversely, many liberal states might go overboard the other way and approve of late-term abortions.
- +1 y
@NYCQuestions1976 I know. But do you think the anti-abortion lot are going to stop there? They already want to make it illegal to cross state lines (which would be unconstitutional), or make it legal to sue anyone who does (or helps, which should include the state for providing roads), which might not be, but will lead to similar laws on gun control in sane states. Some states even want to call it murder. They're going to take a states' rights win and try to turn it into a federal ban, you know it.

We're not even certain that the released draft is the Supreme Court's final decision. However, if it is, the Supreme Court won't allow travel restrictions between states to exist, and women will exercise their right to choose in liberal states, which will likely loosen restrictions on late-term abortions, and their frequency will increase over time. It's going to wind up working in a backfired way. The only people who will benefit from this decision are those who are hard-core abortionists once liberal states eventually change their pro-choice laws to pro-abortion laws. Will Texas and maybe a few other low population states completely ban abortions? Possibly. However states like California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, and Massachusetts will be ready to be all too accommodating, and those are the states where the most abortions are already occurring.

@NYCQuestions1976 The argument that it won't make any difference because women will simply travel to other states ignores two things.
1. Some women can't afford to travel (and some states are concentrating on ways to stop them, like Texas' $10,000 free money to anyone accusing someone of aiding an abortion).
2. If it won't make any difference, why are you doing it? It can only be to make women suffer. - +1 y
1.) Officials in more liberal states will be more than willing to financially sponsor such travel. I can almost guarantee those trips will be highly publicized by all political sides for opposing reasons.
2.) Human beings, in general, regardless of political affiliations, lack proper forethought. Unfortunately that's not unique to just this issue.
+1 yNo. Abortion isn't a good idea at all. I'm totally against it. But sometimes it is needed badly. For example a 14 yr old girl got raped a pregnant. Obviously she needs to get an abortion otherwise she and the kid in her womb, both will have a destroyed life.

It's such a big topic at the moment here on GAG. This must be about the tenth question about abortion I've come across here in the last two days alone.

Nope. I wouldn't like it if the government forced me to do something with my body that I didn't want.
People should be able to choose what they do with their own body.10 Reply
+1 yI don't know where life begins, that's a religious question for priests and philosophers.
Letting the state enforce religion is always a bad idea.
I prefer a FREE country.11 Reply- +1 y
It's not "life", it's "personhood". Is a single ovum a person? A third of them never get impanted. How about a heart with no brain? There's a reasonable discussion to be had, here, but it mustn't involve religions. (Unless the Christians are willing to accept the Jewish position that it's only murder after birth.)

So babies just come out of thin air?
- +1 y
@Creampiekarl420 no they come from a man ejaculating viable sperm inside a woman’s vagina, then fertilizing the egg which then implants it’s self into the uterine wall at which point the cells start replicating. Did you flunk biology or something?
- +1 y
@Subarugirl okay you didn’t have to be so lewd you perv that was my point they should be banned women shouldn’t be so promiscuous
- +1 y
@Creampiekarl420 it’s not lewd it’s biology. And if you’re not mature enough to be able to talk about it then you should stay out of it. If science and biology makes you uncomfortable then you should make sure to keep you phallus in your pants and away from any vagina
- +1 y
@Subarugirl The fact that you didn’t deny being a pervert tho😂
- +1 y
@Subarugirl that’s who abortion is for selfish perverted women
- +1 y
@Creampiekarl420 probably the men who ask women to get the too then, or the men who abandon their children, or the men who are do not care for their children
- +1 y
@Subarugirl or the men who don’t get a say even though it’s their child too
- +1 y
@Vendela thank you
- +1 y
@Vendela that’s your mind in the gutter creampies are dessert food and we all know the terms she didn’t have to be so explicit @Subarugirl you’re a nasty pervert girl creep
- +1 y
@Vendela no they come from a man ejaculating viable sperm inside a woman’s vagina, she could’ve just said fertilize
- +1 y
@Creampiekarl420 Grow up you child, If using correct biological terminology makes you uncomfortable then there is something wrong with you and you shouldn't be here.
- +1 y
@Subarugirl @vendela y’all are nasty you didn’t have to say what you said geez
- +1 y
@Creampiekarl420 oops, sorry let me rephrase that for you. When a man fucks a woman and shoots his hot load inside of her pussy, (granted she needs to be fertile and ovulating) babies can be made! Then she pushes that mother fucker out of her gaping hole and voila! Now I'm blocking you because you're annoying as shit
- +1 y
@Creampiekarl420 If using anatomically correct terminology makes you uncomfortable then you are too immature to be talking about such grown up things. Go back to sex ed kiddo.

+1 yThe "right to choose" isn't being banned or made illegal nationally. If the Supreme Court leak turns out to be accurate, it won't be regulated by the federal government any more. It'll be regulated by the States individually.

+1 yNo. Making them illegal won't make them go away, any more than it did with guns or drugs or booze during prohibition.

Yes, let's allow strangers to decide on what we do with our own bodies. Let's have the majority decide that masturbating into a sock is murder.

@John_Doesnt Our elected officials are not strangers. Citizens have the ability to vote them out of office. They work for us.
