A combination of tax incentives requiring no father be in the household, increasingly accepted Feminist attitudes that women could do anything (which is true) and that working yourself to the bone for your family was oppression, while working yourself to the bone for your corporate masters was empowering (which is utter nonsense), and socio-political huckstering pushing people to one another's throats, helping break down relations between the sexes. Remember all the arguments against gay marriage that boiled down to "it's disrupting the nuclear family", when it would, in fact, have been strengthening it? That sort of thing.

Also, the presence of a strong and deeply connected family unit gave children such an overwhelming advantage that it quickly became the default everywhere on Earth (though the exact details varied)- quite simply, no one had anything to compare it to, because everything else had already faded away, so no one knew just how damaging it could be.

Because the Democrats made it lucrative for women to be single mothers. In the 60's, they literally went door to door, mainly in inner-cities, telling black families to split up and rely on the libs to support them. Prior to that, the African American family mirrored the white family. As far as divorce rates and single parent households, graduation rates, crime rates, poverty... This isn't made up, the stats speak for themselves. It is still a never ending issue. The libs destroyed the black family unit and somehow brainwashed them into believing they will be their saviors. Fortunately, polls show a lot of blacks are starting to realize they are being used. Solely for votes.

Society didn't decide that, relationships sometimes just fail for whatever the reasons are between that man and woman.

People can speculate but no on truly knows the ins and outs of what two people in a intimate relationship go through behind close doors.
