+1 yI just don’t understand why it’s so out of the realm of possibility to some people that maybe Trump actually DID commit crimes, then subsequently why these people expect the law won’t apply to him, while simultaneously championing the ideas of personal responsibility and law & order. Like everyone was instantly mad that anyone even questioned him, let alone attempted to hold him accountable, they act as if he’s exempt from any kind of suspicion or inquiry. The same folks who chanted “lock her up!” a few years ago, the same people demanding Joe Biden be held accountable for alleged wrongdoings of his son, who isn’t even involved in politics. You see these interviews with supporters, and it’ll be like “what did you think of Trump being charged?” “It’s bullshit!” “Have you read the indictment?” “No….” I mean, c’mon, guys🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Help me take you even a little bit seriously. That requires you to not root for Trump like your favorite sports team, blindly cheering him on through whatever. Show at least a shred of objectivity. Show me you have thoughts of your own and aren’t just denouncing anything bad you hear about your Supreme Leader routinely and without examination. Every time I see these people being interviewed, like 95% of them fold up like a lawn chair if you ask them even one follow-up question to show that they have any level of mastery of their party-supplied talking points they memorized from last night’s episode of Sean Hannity. These are not serious people to be taken at all seriously.
Im not aware that DeSantis is lined up for any charges of any kind. I thought I might have heard of a potential private lawsuit from those poor migrants he lied to and shipped off as a political stunt without a care in the world about the human lives he was fucking with, but there are no state or federal charges levied against him that I’ve heard of. That’s not how the justice system works. No matter what anyone is trying to tell you, Trump dug his own graves with these cases. “B-b-b-b-b-but Hunter’s laptop!” Been hearing about this thing for like three years now, and at this point, save me your tall tales of cover-ups…. show us all the hard evidence that will stick in a court of law, prosecute Hunter or Joe or whoever, or kindly just shut the fuck up about the whole thing, seriously. It looks pathetic at this point, like your guy turned out to be a criminal, so you desperately need the guy who replaced him to be a criminal too. I’m all for investigations and charges if necessary, I couldn’t give a squirt of piss for either Joe or his (again, non-politician) son, I’m not trying to protect anyone. I’m not even a democrat, but one side has been able to come up with TONS of evidence, enough for grand juries —not Joe Biden and the Democrats, grand juries of random Americans like you or me— to agree that there’s enough to bring charges. Step 2 is proving it beyond a reasonable doubt. Trump has the advantage if he did nothing wrong. He and his lawyers and other cronies can say absolutely anything they want in the court of public opinion, win over the people…. but in a court of law, it’s about facts and only facts. And again, a randomly selected panel of jurors will decide on the case. If we start getting into conspiracy theories about rigged trials, in all these different jurisdictions and venues…. just lmao, that’s where I gotta hit the exit, I only deal in reality.
Bottom line: if you love Trump and you believe in law & order, you should be really excited for these cases, because this is it, this is the big chance to prove to us all that all the talk amongst us is horseshit, and that the facts are on his side. That’s literally all he needs to win. The burden of proof is all on the DOJ/DA’s, the defendant always has the advantage unless the facts are truly not on their side. So get your popcorn ready, and we’ll finally see what’s what. If Trump disproves what I believe to be the truth (what I know of the situations, anyway) and shows me he’s not guilty, I’ll come right back here and tell you I got it wrong. All the bluster is out the window now though. The rubber has met the road, and it’s all about under-oath facts at this juncture.

Trump screams that he's an innocent man, but does he actually BELIEVE it? It's easy to say "sure he does, because he's a mentally ill narcissist who lives in his own bubble where he's never wrong", but is that true? IF he's playing, he plays it well. If he's not playing, and he's TRULY as delusional as he sounds, does it make any difference to his actions in the end? Can there be a "diminished capacity" plea being set up?
Trump is the worst thing to happen to America since Reagan. The GOP embraced them both because they made perfect puppets while appealing to the deeper fears in people, and their misguided hatred. Regardless of the gen pop's stupidity and maga-nuts cult-like, ignorant devotion, he needs to be held accountable for his actions and crimes. I have lots of butter and loads of popcorn.

+1 yHey dummy, Biden isn't prosecuting Trump. Try and run this next part through your ignorant skull, because I'm going to dumb it down for you.
Trump broke many laws in the eyes of several District Attorneys and prosecutors from different states. Right now, the word "alleged" stays attached to the charges, which are CRIMINAL, not just civil. That means you plead "guilty or not guilty" of the charges, which he has pleaded not guilty to all of them.
If YOU, or I, or ANYBODY ELSE, had done these same things, we'd have suffered the same indictments, alleging that we've committed (serious) crimes. EVEN if Trump had not announced plans to run again, and dropped out of politics altogether, this would STILL be happening, as it should.
Trump is not being prosecuted because of politics; he's being prosecuted in spite of politics!!
DeSantis is not yet being prosecuted by the DOJ, but he is being sued by several watchdog groups, civil rights groups, a former prosecutor, and a list of others. He's dead in the water at this point as a serious candidate for anything except possibly the head of the KKK or the Twatzies - you know, Moms for Tyranny.

None of the charges are real and he is being tried in venues that hate him with judges that hate him even more. American people are watching this and are starting to feel what it is like to live in a communist country,
20 Reply6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. The Democrats will try every trick possible to remain in power. I doubt if it will work. And I hope it backfires, causing them to be investigated and prosecuted for all their own crimes.
20 Reply8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No. Biden is not getting involved with holding Trump and DeSantis to legal account. That is handled by a separate branch of the government that is strictly speaking outside his authority.

@exitseven The AG does not put people behind bars, their job is to be the attorney for the state such as representing different agencies and the state or defend the constitution and whatnot.
- +1 y
@exitseven Symbolically maybe but an agency that changes leadership more than once every 4 year would be paralyzed by lacking leadership as each new head of the department struggles to get everything in order to how they want things to function. In reality, they are more like a figurehead. The bureaucracy and function of the agency does not rely on the AG.
- +1 y
@exitseven That started before Biden came into office and is just a consequence of his political adversaries being criminals in the first place. Its not a fucking surprise that criminals are getting prosecuted.
- +1 y
I cannot think of a single instance where President Trump did this. He could have assembles a team to give Hunters laptop a proper investigation and he could have had Hillery locked up for obstruction but he chose not to. I bet he regrets this and he says that this time the gloves come off.
- +1 y
@exitseven No he could not. Again, the President does not have unlimited power over the justice system even if he does pick the AG. You need to look into the constitution and research the separation of powers.
- +1 y
Trump could have appointed a real aggressive AG that would have gone after Biden and investigate the payoffs his son had collected from foreign entities. Instead he hired a bump on a log Bill Barr who did squat. Trumps biggest mistake was listening to the wrong people regarding some of his appointments.
- +1 y
@exitseven No he could not. The job of the AG is not to put people behind bars.
- +1 y
@exitseven You mean... like they should already have? What argument is there for not giving prosecutors the resources and such that they require to do their job?
- +1 y
@exitseven You do know that Alvin Bragg was a Trump supporter right?
- +1 y
@exitseven Nope. He has repeatedly stood in the way of actually criminally prosecuting Trump. There were even people who quit the case because Alvin Bragg would not let them do their job.
- +1 y
@exitseven have fun.

Soteris, I am quite familiar with the first three articles of the Constitution. You, obviously, are not, as your vague response shows.
The Attorney General serves at the pleasure of the President. Yet you would have us believe that Joe Biden has no knowledge whatsoever of what's going on with the politically-motivated persecution of Trump? That's not something that isn't going to be left undiscussed, nor is it going to be left uncoordinated, not least when the special prosecutor (appointed by the Attorney General) is using a DC-area grand jury to bring additional politically-motivated charges.
As for Bragg, Soteris, you can't possibly be stupid enough to deem him a Trump supporter. He promised to go after Trump when campaigning for Manhattan DA He initially didn't bring charges against Trump because there was no legal case. He obviously came under pressure from the Executive Branch (read: the Biden Administration), of which the Department of Justice, to bring a BS case for political purposes. - +1 y
@exitseven: Soteris is lying to you. Bragg boasted about suing Trump or his administration over 100 times.
- +1 y
And that's a DC-grand jury for a case with a south Florida jurisdiction.
But in the Soteris Alternate Universe, Democrats never talk to each other and can't possibly coordinate a lemonade stand, much less politically-motivated prosecutions.
As for the prosecutors who quit in a hissy fit when Bragg initially was doubtful about charging Trump, well, they are political activists, so their resignations were anything but a matter of conscience:

@Avicenna The AG serves as a legal advisor to the president. And you are familiar with Article 3 in the constitution? Superb! Tell me where in there it mentions that the president gets to wield the power of the justice system or where the AG gets to put people behind bars?
I dont fare what Biden is aware of or not, I care about the separation between the white house and the justice system. He can be aware all he wants as long as he dont touch anything.
As for the special council, it is not a direct influence nor is it unsupervised since it can be overruled and they also need to follow all the normal rules and regulations anyway so I dont see why you think this is such a big deal.
As for using the DC area I dont know nor do I care. My guess it is because Donald Trump has property there and all that.
I have read several accounts from several different events where Bragg personally prevented the case against Trump from moving forward under any circumstances. It is pretty well documented actually. I dont understand why you want me to believe what he said while campaigning, as if people running for office are somehow very honest people who never lies. - +1 y
Soteris, you have been told numerous times that you do not understand what you're talking about when it comes to pretty much anything regarding the US economy, military, or politics. Add to that you being a dishonest ideologue, and we consistently get huge piles of BS from you.
First of all, "separation of powers" refers to the federal government's division into three branches and checks and balances between them. That is not what you're clumsily talking about here.
Leaving aside the fact that the Biden Administration is a repeated offender when it comes to violating people's rights, there is the reality that the special counsel is not independent- he was chosen by the Attorney General, Merrick Garland, because he is a reliable Democratic Party partisan who has a history of abusing prosecutorial power for political ends. That is not an example of "separation of powers". That is in fact a clear indication that this persecution of Trump is driven by the Executive Branch.
Biden has previously expressed a desire for Trump to be prosecuted and put pressure on the Attorney General, who serves at the pleasure of the President, to prosecute Trump.
www.businessinsider.com/president-biden-believes-trump-should-be-prosecuted-for-jan-6-riot-nyt-2022-4
So blather on all you like about irrelevant nonsense, but I have shown once again that you are a clueless, dishonest fool.
In addition, it's clear that it's not just Team Biden targeting Trump, it's lots of other Democrats in office and in the federal bureaucracy and law enforcement. The candidates for Manhattan and New York State DA even explicitly campaigned on "getting Trump". It's pretty much the entire Democratic Party trying to persecute Trump.
You're also clueless on the concept of jurisdiction. You don't get to forum shop for a favorable grand jury a thousand miles away when the case belongs to another jurisdiction. - +1 y
Bragg brought charges after being visited by Garland's DOJ employees. And the DOJ
But the reason he didn't bring charges earlier is because there is no legal case there. Yet, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, you continue to claim that Bragg is trying to protect Trump at all costs.
And you say you don't believe that Democratic candidates for NY and Manhattan AG are telling the truth when they promise to "get Trump". Are you insane? - +1 y
@Avicenna Splitting the government into three branches with checks and balances is NOT what we are talking about? Well that is news to me. Its not like I have been talking about the limitations of the office of presidency, of what checks and balances are in place to prevent them from acting like a king and controlling the justice system like some idiots here think he has the power to do.
I personally also dont care if the special counsel is independent or not. They are approved by other parts of the government, either implicitly or explicitly. They have the power to overrule this decision. Furthermore, the Special Counsel operates under the same limitations and rules as the rest of the justice system so they can't really do anything differently anyways.
Also, to my knowledge I have not really heard Biden talk about prosecuting Trump. He has been far more interested in just moving past that whole part of American history and get to work on things that in his mind actually matters such as leading the country.
But yeah, lets go back a few steps. The reason why Bidens AG could appoint that Special Counsel is because the people in position to enforce those checks and balances also agreed with the decision. That is literally working as intended. I dont understand where you got the idea that checks and balances means that they can't actually do something, it just means that what they are doing must be approved by others.
Also, at this point we are talking about 4 layers deep. Biden supposedly controlling his AG who is supposedly controlling the Special Counsel who is supposedly controlling his investigators to unfairly target Trump. This is just getting silly.
But at the end of the day, you have once again demonstrated that you dont know jack shit yourself. - +1 y
@Avicenna The fact remains that Bragg has stood in the way of prosecuting Trump on several occasions and blocked the case from moving forward. Again, there were people dropping from the investigation because they were convinced that they could bring the case to court but Bragg was standing in the way so they felt it was pointless even staying and pretending to build a better case that would never see the light of day due to one man.
Also yes, I am 100% in favor of never believing anything that someone is saying while running for office. If they say the sky is blue you better fucking open a window and check for yourself outside because THEY can't BE FUCKING TRUSTED. How hard is that to understand?

The judges and department heads Trump appointed in his term in office, are what are prosecuting Trump.

If you believe that, you haven’t been paying attention. These investigations have been going on for a while now. Indictments were inevitable.
This “convenient timing” claim is hilarious. I mean, it’s pure bullshit. But it’s hilarious how so many of you so quickly and wholly gulp it up only to regurgitate it all over the internet.
🤣😂
6.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Biden isn't prosecuting anyone. It's the US. Department of Justice, which presented enough evidence to convince grand juries to proceed to an indictment.

You're unaware of DC voting patterns and have never heard of Jack Smith. Apparently so. And that Florida case currently has a DC-area grand jury. And south Florida is primarily Democrats, hence "up to 90%). Trump did win 45% of Dade County's votes in 2020, but only 34% in 2016. And Broward is even more of a Democrat Party stronghold.
The Kool Aid is being drunk by you and other leftists who pretend that it's a genuine prosecution rather than a political persecution. And don't forget that only the prosecution presents evidence before a grand jury.
