Instead of police we need social workers and mentors for people.
There are countries that have special forces trained and sent to deal with dangerous issues. A level above average shit like “she stole” …”oh no she didn’t that was the wrong person.”

I can't find the whole video. I saw a small part. My concern here (because they cut it before the shot) is that the car just lurched/rocked forward a little like cars do when you put them from drive to park, or on a hill or something, and that resulted in what we have here. Has anybody seen the full video?
Also, stepping in front of a car has always seemed profoundly stupid to me, coming as someone with a badge. You're asking to get run down or you're itching for a shot, but I've shot through enough windshields in training to see how much they can deflect a round an inch or two from where you want it that I'm not going to play F-Around and Find Out with the weak-azz rounds police carry. I like to know where my shots are going.
Not sure they released the full tape

Well clearly Officer Driver Side wasn't taught how to use a window break tool. You don't hit the top bendy part you hit the lower corner where that ist will shatter. I'd have drug her out through teh window by 24 seconds because if it's bad enough i'm breaking a window it's bad enough to make sure you go through it. Personally I hadn't seen anything yet to warrant that but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here that she was putting keys in ignition or something. She starts turning the wheel and never looks forward. I don't think she meant to run over the cop, but they both F'ed up. You pull forward AFTER you look what's there (especially if you can't find a cop because the dumb ones like to stand in front of cars). Also could've been a kid there or somebody walking their dog. I honestly think she was just trying to flee (dumb, yeah, but people do dumb stuff). If dude wasn't standing there "about to be run over" then there's no way to argue that's a good shoot. She walked into his trap though, because the only reason to put yourself there is because you want the shoot or you're an imbecile.
All that to say, best i can tell, it certainly was NOT the jerk I was first afraid it might be.
There should be more engagement of mental heatlh servcies/social services, but they tend to be underfunded.
In the recent case. The police were called, the alleged perpetrator was pointed out to them and then allegedly refused to cooperate until they drove at an officer. What happens if the officers let them go and they later have a crash killing others? The police would then be blamed for not stopping them. The police had to act. Whether there was a different course of action I'm not qualified to say. But if you risk the life of an officer you give them a reason to take lethal action
So you want police trained to treat people differently based on there skin colour?
We totally need social workers to deal with criminals with guns.

Laws need to be enforced. small crimes if not curtailed will encourage larger crimes. This is where we are today. Shoplifters were not prosecuted by democrat DAs so now we have gangs of shoplifters doing so many snatch and grabs that big box stores are just closing up shop and leaving. Lock them all up and have them see the social workers while they are behind bars so they cannot hurt or rob anybody.
Where I live the recently fired US attorney said she would not prosecute crimes like shoplifting, selling drugs, graffiti and othe rperceived small crimes. Soon it was out of control. She was a Biden appointee that the republicans tried to block because she was so Pro crime. Fortunately she was fired for corruption. Thy only turned around and found someone just as bad.
If it's DeSantis, he's also removed a DA for prosecuting cops. www.theguardian.com/.../florida-prosecutor-desantis-removed-monique-worrell
But this could be the case @exitseven is talking about:

@goaded No it is this. It says she resigned but it was either resign or be tried and convicted.
apnews.com/.../rachael-rollins-massachusetts-us-attorney-resigns-42f9111ea4aedbcc6a1ba9f6313cfe6e
@goaded She was a disgrace to the office.. Her predecessor locked up numerous drug dealers and got real criminals off the street. He enforced the immigration laws and deported many illegal aliens. He also was the one behind the college admissions bribery scandal and locked up Felicity Hufffman among others. Rachel Rollins went after local administrators accusing them of "inequality"
@goaded She said certain crimes would not be prosecuted. Minor drug dealing, shop lifting, graffiti and other nuisance crimes. Yes, people usually don't even spend a whole day in jail but they get inconvenienced and have to appear in court afterwards. After a while most people don't think it is worth it and do not do it anymore. If you don't prosecute these crimes you just geet more of it until it becomes a big problem.
If you look at the tent cities that are being set up in democrat cities all over the country. There are laws against sleeping in the streets, there are laws against public intoxication, there are laws against drug dealing and assault. These laws are not enforced and that is where we are today,
she was probably thinking, "they're not actually gonna shoot a pregnant woman stealing clothes". but white racist cops love any chance to fire off a round.
"omg she moved forward and i was just standing there with a gun pointed at her all ready to shoot... i had no clue what was going on because this is not the person we were going to originally shoot so i got confused. thank you that is all".
maybe you should sign up to be a social worker
A lot of what police do is social work. You only have to look at cities like San Francisco that don't enforce basic laws and defend police
I think your politics are getting the better part of your logic. Come to San Francisco sometime and commit some petty crimes and see what happens. I realize it's an article of faith among people on the right that that certain cities which you dislike for their politics don't enforce the law. But if you actually came here and tried it, you would soon learn that that isn't the case.
@msc545 if so then why are companies leaving San Francisco? Who are the victims? The citizens of San Francisco when they can't shop anywhere or have to travel to shop.
Somebody somewhere has to pay. If stores have to claim off their insurance for stolen goods that means their insurance premiums will go up which the store will pass on to consumers. As for tax write offs, its taxpayers who pay for that. If a store is unprofitable due to shoplifting that store will close down or move.
I would love to see social workers try to end a gang war. That would be interesting.
Yeah man this shit is crazy…happens daily
