Sure.

Public school where I live just means non-religious curriculum and institution. Doesn't mean religion isn't allowed at all.

Why not have prayer groups for kids who're into it?

Of course, you also have to allow for anti-religious groups and clubs. And make sure they all respect each other.

Thing is you can't force all the kids to participate or recognize it. And you'll definitely have religious nuts who can't stand that.

So it ends up being a lot of trouble.
