Definitely not with law enforced entertainment of the patients delusions and poisoning and mutilation of their body. They need actual, quality long term therapy with someone who will take the time needed to help them dig to what's wrong. A lot of them discover what was their issue by themselves when they realise the transition didn't actually help but the damage is done already. The issue is that the illness is so strong, it comes from such deeply repressed trauma most people with gender dysphoria will refuse any actual help from therapists at first. We need to stop encouraging the embrace of the illness and support the therapists who are actually trying to help instead of taking their jobs away. Little hints on what can trigger it : child sexual abuse (boys/girls) porn addiction for men of any age, sexual abuse for women of any age. Repressed homosexuality or growing up in a homophobic household (boys/girls) Desperate need to please their mentally ill parents who wanted a child of the other sex, are narcissists, or have a pathological desire for attention (young children) Feeling of being a failure as your own sex (young men/women) Wanting to escape the patriarcal and misogynistic society (young women and teenage girls) Extreme discomfort with your own sex because your body or facial features are different from the standard, very different from most people you see outside... There are so many things, and there is no mystical feeling of being born in the wrond body. These people are ill and need help.

Nobody really knows. If I was to recommend a treatment without knowledge of the outcomes, I wouldn't be helping anyone.
