I know I’ve gone off on nationalist people. I’m still against that. BUT…I feel corporations are taking advantage. And perhaps a way to fight back is go Nationalism on THEM.

Apple HQ is based in Ireland for the tax breaks.
General Motors has more overseas workers than UAW
adidas, Budweiser, Coca-Cola- eeesh

Yeah, get this. My tax dollars paid for illegal gain-of-function coronavirus research through an organization called the NIAID. *Somehow* that virus got let out into the world. That same organization used my tax dollars to research mRNA vaccines.

So these billion-dollar pharmaceutical companies wanted to get in on the action of making a "vaccine" to stop the spread of this coronavirus. So they had to pay licensing fees for the technology. They paid these fees directly to an individual, not the NIAID, Not to the taxpayers who paid for all this funding, but individually to the director of the NIAID. (ps, you won't believe it, but that same director was the one who encouraged the funding of the illegal gain-of-function research).

Then these same billion-dollar corporations - who by the way are in arguably the most corrupt industry in the world - sold these vaccines to governments, so my tax dollars went again to pay for this scheme.

Turns out these billion-dollar corporations lied and fudged numbers about how effective these shots were. They lied about this new mRNA technology's safety. They lied and said that the mRNA would stay in people's arms, but we know it leaked out into people's livers, and into breastmilk.

The icing on the cake is that half my country thought you should be banned from going to the grocery store for not taking these shots.

Companies and investors don't care where their companies are HQ'D. They don't care about your national identity. They care about more profits, every year.

They would overthrow your government for a 2% increase in returns.

You're on the right track, but leading with "capitalist corporations care about national identity" is a false assumption.

This is one big reason we need to have a global corporate tax rate that outstrips individual taxation. And a reason why it's near impossible to make this happen: those places with low corporate tax attract large companies. So unless we get a global push, whoever underbids gets more companies.

I agree with you all corporations require significant taxation increases, requiring HQs to be located in country of origin, and that corps are taking advantage of developed countries - including the US, Canada, and Europe.

It's just not as simple a solution as "tell them they're big dumb not patriots".

Think Apple provides 8000 jobs in Ireland, that's tax paid to the Irish government that normally would be paid. Irish citizens pay 20-40% tax. That's more tax paying citizens that can buy houses, food, cars etc all of which are taxed.

Of course. Naturally other countries within the EU do not like this as it gives Ireland an advantage over say Germany. Be interesting to see if the EU will allow countries within the EU to set their own corporate tax rates.
