Some say a shotgun is good, others say assault rifles. What you think?
They are powerful and carry enough automatic rounds plus you can buy a vest jacket to have more magazines in case if you need it if some devils wanna try their luck.

hand gun. a shot gun will work but it is messy as hell and will involve collateral damage. an assault style rife is simply overkill and again will involve collateral damage
hand gun is the most accurate, cleanest, easiest to operate, easiest to conceal, easiest to store away. if you need more than a handgun to stop an intruder you should go back to the school
Bluntly, if you can't have enough bullets in a single clip for an assault rifle, then either you're a terrible shot or you're up against someone with so many resources that a gun won't protect you; they'll just turn their artillery on your house. I mean, are you protecting your house from elephants?
Unless you're far enough away from other buildings that you don't have to worry about overpenetration (and consequently going to jail for killing innocent people next door), a shotgun or handgun with hollow points is probably your best bet.
Shotgun, preferably short barrel. Or a hand gun. A rifle would be the worst unless your planning on shooting someone from one side of a very large house to the other.
Shotguns and hand guns don't provide enough rounds.
Assault rifles has a minimum of 30 rounds. Having two rifles with a minimum of 60 rounds is good..
When you take account that each buckshot shot is like firing off 8+ pellets at once, then 10 rounds of buckshot is actually more like 80. Plus you're more likely to hit anyway. All in all, assault rifles are more of a novelty/roughing it in the weather gun than practical for a home invasion. If you miss a person running at you after firing off 10 rounds, they're more than likely going to be on you anyway.
Yeah, and when you miss you could kill your neighbor in their house. At least a shotgun with 00 buckshot won't go through a wall and is actually better than a pistol with 9 balls instead of maybe 6 bullets. But that is 9 in one shell, where 6 bullets would empty your revolver.
This is what my dad had.
This is what I have.
But in answer to your question, get a sawed-off shotgun.
I like shotguns a lot because of their very strong put down power but 12 buckshots possibly isn't enough if there's 3 or 4 punks trying to break in or if there's a shootout.
It says a riot shotgun can hold up to 10 rounds. I doubt they're legal in most states, but who cares.
I doubt you can find a 4 or 8 gauge shotgun, but you can probably find a 10 gauge.
I'm thinking about getting one of these. They're legal in all states, and you don't need a permit.
Sawed off shotguns are illegal. It may save your life but you could wind up in jail. But still better than being dead.
@YesterdaysChild
It's better to be judged by 12, than to be carried by six.
What? A paint gun? If they get away they are still a "marked" man. 😅
@YesterdaysChild
Very true! But I have an idea for Mr. Kool-guy.
Just buy a 3D printer, and make us all guns!

Depends on where you live, house layout/construction material, and how many people live with you. You have to worry about over penetration in most cases.
https://youtu.be/j3BlRPtCj2E?si=n1mtSEIBOLk7SgKcShooting through doors or walls, definitely something with lot of penetration. Full auto old fashioned 7,62x39 AKM
But you are not allowed to own a fully auto weapon. You could get in as much trouble than a robber.
I keep a shotgun and a handgun. The handgun is for getting to it quickly but I have a shotgun too to deal with a frontal assault.
According to the movie Terminator:
12 gauge autoloader Franchi SPAS-12
AMT Hardballer.45 with laser sighting
IMI Uzi 9mm
shotguns are good
semi auto shotgun with short barrel,,,
