American women care more about consumption of cheap imported junk than they care about family. The number one issue causing low reproduction rates is financial insecurity. Feminists will market it as women having more options these day, but in reality it’s just that women do not care about family. They will put career opportunity and money before children because their ultimate objective is to consume junk they don’t need. This is backed up by the fact that women account for 75-85% of discretionary spending even though they make up 50% of the population. If they are with a man long term it’s to spend his money. Consumption doesn’t grow the economy in a way that new technologies that improve the standard of living does. It’s a hollow economy fed by women’s greed for material possessions. To continue that consumption more and more money is printed which drive inflation and devalues the dollar reducing purchasing power. Being that the economy is not growing in any real way that makes Americans more productive, salaries stay stagnant. Therefore over time, there are fewer men that can or want to feed the insatiable hunger of female consumption. As a result less people reproduce together.
I feel like we need to be REDUCING the human population, this just isn’t sustainable. More than 1-2 billion population worldwide and it just becomes too much. I don’t know how you accomplish this without genocide, lmao, I don’t really have a good answer for how to get there, but I’m convinced that there are way too many human beings on earth and we need to cut WAYYYYYYY back, somehow.
I don't think birth rate and fertility rate are the same thing.
The birth rate has fallen because women & men are choosing to have children later in life, like say in their early to late 30s.
Now if the actual fertility rate has fallen, that is if women & men in their teens and twenties have less fertile wombs and sperms unrelated to contraception well that's likely down obesity, diabetes, legal/ilegal drug use, alcohol, chemicals in food and water and so on.
When I was in the maternity ward most of the other women were in their 30s.
I honestly think it’s just a lot people don’t place value on having children and don’t want them. Some people might say because of income, but in my experience the poorest people tended to have the biggest families and the wealthier you are the less children you have so yeah I guess it does play a factor too.

my in-laws raised 8 kids on a single income. he wasn't making millions either. he probably made about 70k back in the 80s which was a lot but still didn't make him exceptionally rich. he says he couldn't even think about raising that many kids on that salary or even double that salary
inflation over time lapping increase in wages has made smaller families a must.
There is really a lot of issues at play here:
The cost of living.
Housing alone in semi good area with 3 bedrooms you are at looking at least $3,500 a month in mortgage, not counting insurance and taxes on that house which will be an additional $6,000
The mortgage alone will be around $42,000 a year when the annual medium income in the U. S. around $72,000 a year.
Now, add car, gas, food, retirement fund, medical funds, feeding kids and all the little things that add up throughout a year is too expensive to have multiple kids.
Either the cost of living significantly drops or wages significantly increases for people to have more kids otherwise forget it.
The garbage they keep shoving into our food and drinks!! Take a look at the ingredients on the stuff you buy! Nearly half of it will say it contains bioengineered shit!! WHO KNOWS what you're putting into your body with that shit? I REFUSE to buy anything that has that in the ingredients! Maybe, if we all do, they'll get the message! They'll lose shitloads of money and, eventually, figure out why!
I'm going to have to agree with white Steve. The last thing the world needs is more assholes. More resource vacuums creating more trash and pollution. Worrying about how many tax payers there are is just another excuse not to balance the budget. Worrying about the economy is just playing the short game and ignoring the long game, which is not using up and trashing the planet to the point of our own extinction. We can only shit in our own backyard for so long.

The only developed country that has reached a generation replacement level is Isreal. For a very simple reason - Israel is surrounded by a group of countries that don't want him to exist, so having a big army is a neccessity to survive.

The economy. It wouldn't be a problem if people just didn't want to have kids, but a lot of people do still want kids and just can't afford to have them. That's the problem.
Its not fertility, people just don't want kids or fewer kids. For various reasons, one of them is surely the economy or better the low paying jobs for the middle and poor class people.
The United States has 350 million people. In 2000, it was 280 million. In 1900 it was 75 million.
You complain about climate change and mass shootings and income inequality and inflation and homelessness. How many more people do you need?
The US is in decline. Wed have become lazy, complacent and self centered. We have become too used to wealth, comfort and I-phones. Without some kind of explosive changed, we are fukked.
High stress levels, mainly due to financial issues (significantly caused by the economy), I suppose.
The falling birth rate isn't connected to less fertility, it's caused by women using contraceptives because they don't want to have kids, or can't afford to.

People aren't willing to make the sacrifices needed to have children. They prefer their weekends in Napa or the Hampton's and their vacations in the Swiss Alps. And of course nobody wants a long-term stable committed relationship anymore.
Why is it alarming? Isn't it a good thing for environmental concerns?
