No it might work for some people to be considered oppressors or oppressed but that´s not a general statement for all people since in a democracy or a republic most people have the same opportunities.
It´s based on the idea that one side has all the privileges and one side has none while neglecting that´s not how life works. Even a person that has many priivileged like being rich and famous is under privileged in other aspects like for instance privacy, vulnerability or genuine social contacts. It´s based on comparing my life with someone else thinking he´s richer because he´s privileged and I´m not...
There are many aspects of live people tend to take for granted to construct this social theory on life. It allows them to not be responsible for their life choices since if you´re oppressed you don´t have a choice in the first place right?
