That seems to be the argument against women’s wage gap regs. “They don’t work as long! They get preggers! Women don’t negotiate!”

That seems to be the argument against women’s wage gap regs. “They don’t work as long! They get preggers! Women don’t negotiate!”

My first boss at this job was a bit aggressive and tended to butt heads with other managers. She was a no BS straight shooter. I wasn’t super crazy about her at the time, but she was actually really passionate about the job and really propelled the department forward, looking back I have a lot more respect for her.
Unfortunately that is not usually the case in my experience. I currently have another female boss who is impossible to get ahold of. She’s salaried and is usually out of the office more than in. She doesn’t come in and make a mess of things, but she’s not qualified and the lack of direction on regulatory enforcement could open us up to fines.
I also work with one other guy and two women. Both of them have not worked a full week (8 hour days) for probably close to 6 months. My other coworker and I have missed less time combined than one of them. It’s actually difficult to try and coordinate my own paid time off with how inconsistent their schedules tend to be.
Things happen, appointments, etc. getting sick and other unavoidable things come up, but the amount of time they miss is insane, and they don’t even bother to try to make up time or lessen the impact. One took an entire week off from work because she needed to get her vehicle repaired. She lives 5 miles away and could easily Uber or Lyft here. They both get here late and consistently leave 30-40 minutes early. Typically right around the time we get busy. It puts us really far behind and really hinders morale because all the guys know we’d be fired for the same behavior. I don’t think women are incapable of putting in the work, they just aren’t held to the same standards as men.
I have seen and know many successful business women.
"Women don’t negotiate!"
This is unfortunately true very often. Lot of girls in office jobs feel like a 5th wheel on wagon and underestimate their value in corporation they were trainees and when their bosses are willing to take them over as regular employees. Then they complain and see everyone as scammer when someone is better off in matter of income.
However women aren't generally worse or better in business as I can observe in my profession.
No, I have known far more successful female business people than I have known male ones.

Women get degrees in fields that don't pay as well and they often go for low end jobs that are easier. When it is the same job with the same qualifications women get paid the same, but women often get paid the same as men in a position when the woman is actually SIGNIFICANTLY less qualified too.
As far as sports go, that is based on revenue, popularity, and ability, that is why women's athletes often make much less money, because they aren't even as good as high school male players.

Me, a literal business major and in an administrative position at my company after 4 years.
I've read some of the arguments against us on here. Not really impressed. And nothing I haven't heard before.
Yes that is actually the literal and accurate explanation for the wage gap.
I know, it blows your mind that men can be better at something than women. Next thing you know there's going to be a biological difference between men and women in sports!
But men and women are so similar some leftists can’t tell the difference!
You need to be a troon to tell the difference between a man and woman!
Those biological differences are probably made up by bigoted TERFs like the lesbians who don’t want to date "women" with dicks.
Fun fact, men and women are so equal these days, here in Norway one our biggest banks are giving special treatment to women who wants to start their own company, as a way to get more women into starting their own businesses. If you are female, you get better deal than if you were male.
Women choose careers that make them less money.
They work less hours.
They are less likely to ask for a raise.
Less likely to leave for a better paying job.
Less likely to seek promotion.
Less likely to move states for more money or better paid job.
More likely to take a career break.
What kind of genitalia you were born with has NOTHING to do with your talent, or lack of it, for business, or for anything else. I know of some excellent businesswomen. This is like saying a woman can't be an airline pilot! It is just plain stupid and Neanderthal!
Women tend to be more agreeable and tend to rely more on emotions over hard strategizing. Those are not qualities that help in business. That said nothing prevents women from starting and running their own company's and for example my hair dresser is running a successful business with multiple employee's.
So are they worse at business? As an archetype sure, but in reality they can be great at it.
@Jersey2 That can be easily corrected though, and its a tried and tested solution. Rather than artificial discrimination to fix a wage gap it does wonders to teach women some negotiation skills. Teach them how to negotiate, but also that its appropriate to negotiate. If they then search for a job they can get higher salaries.
If thats how you put it, yes. Its on them if they don’t negotiate before they accept the job, and are willing to work for a lower sallary than a man. If someone at my job do the same job I do, but work more hours than me, I expect them to likely earn more than me. If someone has less days off than me, due to for example sickness (or pregnancy if I were a woman) I expect to likely earn more than me.
Wage Gap is not real. The amount of hours you put it in is by choice and pregnancy is also a choice. Women can very much negotiate too.
This answer goes back to cave people days. Men while hunting had to work as a group and let things that happened in the past or no one would eat. Women gathered and competed for foos with the other women and remembered every slight that happened. It is the same thing today.
No.
If anything, like most things, they're better.
on my field... these things do not really matter
Not necessarily, though the majority of female bosses I've had have serious inferiority complexes, are extremely judgmental and are very difficult to be around. Most women owned businesses usually work where it's family run or where it's female majority as employees.
I don't think that a blanket statement like that is accurate. I do know weman that are very successful in business and I know some that have issues and never will be, mostly blaming their problems on everyone else instead of dealing with them. I guess, like everything, it depends on the persons mindset.
“They don’t work as long! They get preggers! Women don’t negotiate!”
This ^ is correct, but I'm not sure why you phrased your question they way you did. Women simply have different priorities and thus make different choices than men.
If you look at the world's most successful entrepreneurs very few of them are women. I just mention that because it's a fact. They can be very able administrators but they're less likely to build a business from the ground up.
i see those fat girls all day long. on a spy cam. i'm not stalking all of them. they have children chrime.
I heard somewhere that the majority of small business owners are women. I guess they must be good at it.
Not in every culture. Some women blind themselves with male/female protocols.
Yes being in charge is for men, it never works out for women.
They are worse but they have so much privilege it may not matter.
If that’s how you want to put it, yes
Well should people that don’t pursue the high paying/ high demand roles, work less and don’t push to get paid their value make the same as those that do? I don’t think so. And that’s the “wage gap” you’re referring to
I have no idea. What difference does that make?
Oh fuck off with that. Men tend to be more driven to achieve those positions and you explained why that is, if you want something go get it
I'm not surprised you believe in the wage gap.
No. Just different. Sometimes better.
Women are every bit as competent as men.
Yeah.
