+1 yI do not care about optics. I do not care about words. I do not even care about personality (and admittedly Trump can be insufferable at times). I only care about POLICY.
How many Americans can honestly say they are better off now financially and feel safe walking the streets (particularly in our major cities) than they felt in 2019? Is the world a safer place now compared to 2019?
Really what has Biden administration done for most Americans? What has he done right that really has helped the mainstream?
The democrats think that focusing on all the “evils” of Trump’s personality and January 6th because that’s the only thing they got.
At first glance that’s not completely a bad bet. It worked for the democrats in 2020. Trump isn’t going to hide in the basement (although he should) like Biden did in 2024 either. He just can’t STFU and is bound to say stupid things.
But this isn’t 2020. We are going on 4 years with the Biden administration and he has the lowest approval rating of any president in history and it’s lower than Trumps (and his same time in office). Is that just a coincidence?
Is it really worth it to have a 81 year man with obvious mental decline and a horrible track record in office for another 4 years just because Trump has bad optics?
I say all of this wishing Trump wasn’t the front runner by the way. I don’t want him getting nominated. My first choice is DeSantis, second Haley and third (if I was forced) RFK. But really who seriously believes the Biden administration has steer our country (and the world) in the right direction?

"How many Americans can honestly say they are better off now financially" - I can. I make more money and even though the costs of goods has gone up, I'm still net positive.
" Feel safe walking the streets (particularly in our major cities) than they felt in 2019?"- In the USA, violent crimes are down.5% in those years, property crimes are up slightly. Any difference I feel is because a certain ex-President has greenlighted ignoring the Rule of Law, and made it his policy.
" Is the world a safer place now compared to 2019?" - No, see above answer for the USA, and how is that relevant for the "rest of the world" when it comes to policy? They make their own policies.
I'm not going any further than to summarize, since your first choice for someone to lead the USA is a fascist.
Your first choice has brought his about such laws as "Don't Say Gay" and taken children from their parents because the "state" has decided it knows more about gender issues than the medical profession.
Your choice instituted policies that have removed hundreds of thousands of books from schools, cause the state a shortfall of teachers, obgyn's, school bus drivers, doctors and forced 8 major insurance companies to stop writing coverage in the state. YOUR choice bites the hand of the largest single tourist attraction it has in an attempt to oversee it, illegally I might add.
YOUR choice wants to re-write history and actually BELIEVES that slavery was beneficial... to the SLAVE !!!
DeSantis is vermin, according to his POLICIES, also which according to you are the most important thing. Supporting him makes you an ipso facto fascist supporter, the same way supporting Trump indicates your own mental decline, if ever there was an incline.
You want to end Democracy as you know it, these are your guys. - +1 y
Funny I didn’t mention one label or insult to anybody who votes democrat in my entire original post. And yet this how people like @loveslongnails respond to me:
“Supporting him makes you an ipso facto fascist supporter, the same way supporting Trump indicates your own mental decline…..”
Slow clap for the class act above. Very slow clap. Just readying makes me want to rush out and hold up “Harris 2024” posters…. excuse me “Biden 2024”. Sharp as a whip at 81. So eloquent, competent and focused.
You know what @loveslongnails just go around saying what you said to me as much as possible about ANY one who “supports” Trump. I mean just accuse any person who votes for him or even doesn’t vote Democrat as some sort of knuckle dragging MAGA cap Neanderthal. And as for “mental decline” oh I am sure that’s not a problem for Biden at all. I mean it isn’t like Americans are nothing and he had the lowest approval ratings of any American president is modern history DESPITE having the full protection and coddling of mass media.
But just go with what you said to me and see how it and works out in 2024. Just do it. - +1 y
Oh, I do, because I have the receipts to prove it. If you're a Trump supporter, it's statistically shown that you're on the slacker side of the intellectual curve. Go to a Trump rally and you'll find out. The majority of Trump supporting Maga-heads are indeed too dumb to think their way out of a paper bag, and I base that on interviews with them and what they say, their LACK of policy knowledge, and who else they support.
And yes, you ARE a fascist supporter if you support Trump, or DeSantis. It doesn't matter that you're INCAPABLE of recognizing that, but again, it's a POLICY proven fact. Biden's ratings don't mean SHIT to me, any more than mass ignorance means to me. If you're mentally incapable of seeing what's going on in red states, and how it will bring about a dystopian Gilead, THAT is your problem, not mine.
You think it's insulting to call a Maga-head ignorant? Just look at the shit they've believed for the last 6 years. Sorry dude, it's not an insult, it's an observance of fact. "Ipso facto"; your support of DeSantis makes you as much of a fool as if you were supporting Adolf himself in 1939. The FACT that YOU don't see it, is your problem, not mine. - +1 y
@loveslongnails I have never been to a Trump rally. Never been an activist. The only “receipt” you have right now is a proven diagnosis of severe TDS with all your drivel above.
But you know what just keep it up and fight the good fight comrade. Try your best to convince people to vote for a senile incompetent corrupt 81 year old candidate in 2024. Just keep projecting and see how many people you will win over.
Let’s see how many average Americans will listen to you when they are struggling economically along with chaos abroad and wide open borders that is allowing cartels to poison and kill Americans with fentanyl and everything else.
But again fight the good fight comrade. Just “express yourself” and act deranged whenever you hear a bare mention of word “Trump”.
- +1 y
You see, "comrade", the irony of this whole conversation is a) I never once said I thought Biden was a great choice, he's simply the lesser of two evils, and his administration has INDEED passed bills that help the American people. You are, of course, incapable of acknowledging that and probably have no idea what bills I'm speaking of. That's your problem, not mine.
And b) you've yet to bring any DATA or FACTS that can argue with my "drivel". That's because they don't exist.
Additional irony is to be found in the term "Trump Derangement Syndrom", because in reality, it applies to his supporters. You have to be deranged, at least politically speaking, in order to back a man like Trump. There's no other explanation and he has demonstrated his unworthiness and incompetence again and again, yet here you blather on supporting him as an alternative to Biden, who has at least accomplished something.
What you also don't understand is that you are a complete, total, unabashed echo box devoid of facts. You have no idea that the Biden Administration had seized more fentanyl in its first 2 years than Trump did in all his years. yet for SOME stupid reason, that's a crisis? SEIZING it is a CRISIS? The GOP will spin anything.
While you're echoing, you portray a completely false sense of REAL concern for the lives of others - you're just repeating the party jargon. Border and immigration issues have been ongoing for 80 years. Did you care about it before? I doubt it. Drug abuse in the USA has been going on since drugs were invented. Did you voice your deep concern for it 5, 10, 15 years ago? I strongly doubt it
Your spewage reeks of vapid talking points, long debunked, designed to ignite emotions and serve as strawmen. Next thing you'll tell me is "you're doing it for the children". Good Lord.

+1 yAnybody can do whatever they want, but they have to accept the consequences. The "rule of law" party doesn't believe rules of law apply to them. No sitting President should have immunity from committing crimes and should face prosecution during or after their term. There's only a DOJ "policy" that they don't go after a sitting President, but it's not a law.
In my opinion, since the President is supposed to be the "highest office you can hold as an elected official", he/she should be held to the highest standards not only as a citizen, but as the leader of an entire nation.
Please note that I said the Presidency is the "highest office" an elected official can hold, but those are not my own words; I'm just paraphrasing what Teddy Roosevelt said about the Presidency. Trump's idiot attorneys are now trying to claim that the President is not an "officer". Hilarious. Well then, I guess the Presidency is not an "office" either, so what is it?

+1 yOkay so some clarification for people who are not quite understanding the presidential role. The president is technically the most powerful person in the US and they can within reason do almost anything. Obviously some things they can't do are things like murder, robbery (you know standard criminal stuff) when it comes to things related to the governance of the nation though sort of yes they can do just about anything. Some things have restrictions like declaring war, firing nuclear weapons, deploying troops etc. Then their are things that are frowned up but not necessarily illegal depending on the nature of the action. What applies to the president is a very nit picky line.
13 Reply- +1 y
This isn't true. Just because the POTUS is the Executive Branch (the highest branch), doesn't mean they can do anything within reason.
Every POTUS still needs congressional, and judicial support. - +1 y
@EnglishArtsteacher I listed the things that require that.
- +1 y
@EnglishArtsteacher This is so simple I don't understand how people don't get this.
The president is only answerable to congress, not regular law enforcement. The founding fathers put this in place specifically because they feared and anticipated lawfair in politics.
Biden could go outside and shoot someone in the head and be completely immune from regular law enforcement. But obviously Congress will quickly impeach him and then he will face the full force of the law.

+1 yI think that we need to specify the presidential 'regional category' first.
In the very best and only super-country of the entire universe there is a tendency to select idols, symbols and holy golden cows to provide a guiding light when the sun shines.
Pick your demons wisely - or they run you over.
Most European presidents know their place and their function. It's perhaps because they are footed on a long standing history and culture?
As a suggestion: once a President's term is over (in any country of this otherwise beautiful planet) - he (or she)(or it)(or whatever) should be executed. Just as a precaution.
''RIGHT'' - there are no rights; only illusions.

+1 yA head of state who has the right to do whatever he wants is called a dictator. Or a king.
A president is a US citizen, and as such, he/she is bound to obey the same laws as every other citizen, plus those applicable for the presidency.
In other words, if you believe that Teeny Tiny Pinkie Trumpie can spit and laugh at US justice; you're looking for the fabled fascist state called Trumpland. Not the United States of America.

+1 yNo, because it's literally not possible.
Without congressional support, as well as an supporting Supreme Court, the POTUS can't do whatever they want, even if they wanted to.
Quite frankly, it's a good thing in my opinion. Giving too much power to one person is dangerous.
00 Reply26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Apparently so. The Supreme Court tells you that you do not have the authority to do something and you do it anyway and nobody does anything about it. If you have control over the dept of Justice I guess there is not much the American public can do. We just have to make sure we get out and vote in November. Even that may not be enough at this point.

The American government is inefficient, sluggish, and convoluted. By design. This is to prevent any one part from assuming total control. And if by some miracle they do assume total control that's where the 2nd Amendment comes in.00 Reply

Lolz Both sides of the fence are so fucking retarded.
I've been reduced to only thinking about economic implications and what will benefit a citizen the most. The "tribes"... well look at them... you and I could pull examples from both sides all day and they're both so fucking retarded. They don't even know what they're talking about.
I have a feeling we see eye-to-eye on that. - +1 y
Absolutely agree. And I wouldn’t necessarily say trumps “racist” in the way a lot of fucks on gag are. Lol. But I will never say Trump and Biden are the same, Biden is old as fck, fumbles words and might not live through his candidacy. But Trump is sex assaulted and corrupt as shit.
- +1 y
Maybe... but look at it through the lens of what's best economically for a US citizen... that's where my standpoint is. I have no care for social justice, global warming, or if you should get a shot and wear a mask. Take a random issue like paying off student debt... and I'm just looking at the $$ and where it will come from. It won't come from him or Biden's new homes he will buy soon... it will come out of every person's taxes... which will more than likely get raised because of these pursuits of equity instead of equality.
It's so jacked up (fucked) that I can't make sense of it. I mean you might be right... Trump is one of them... they've all been corrupt every since the first Bush. I would concede to that... they're all fucked. We have an out-of-control ruling class running everyone into the dirt.
One thing I gotta give to Trump... things were getting better until the COVID shit. Maybe not in the headlines, but look at our tax returns. No new wars, immigration was finally just put in check, and so on. I could try to say something positive about Biden... but... I got nothing. You got something? It's not a dem vs rep thing for me... I'd take Bill Clinton over this guy again any day... financially speaking, that was good days.
4.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Biden does have immunity but if he goes outside and shoots someone in the head in public? He's going to be impeached that same day pretty much and rot in prison.
Remember, the president does not answer to normal law enforcement. They only answered to congress. That is to prevent lawfair which the founding fathers were very wary of and ANTICIPATED HAPPENING.

True to an extent, but let's not forget that Nixon stepped down because after the contents of the White House recordings became known, he lost the support of his own party (high risk of a successful impeachment). Today's GOP members do not have that spine anymore.

Clearly you don't have the slightest clue of the laws in your own country, since the appellate court just refused that silly interpretation and so will the Supreme Court.

Not only that, whoever decided the deadline to decide on a bill is either a fool or a despot. As some of the members of congress pointed out, there is barely enough time to actually read the entire bill so people end up voting based on the title of the bill rather than what is actually in it. That's how we got millions of dollars going to Pakistan funding gender studies courses for a covid omnibus bill, shit like that get snuck in there knowing most people won't make it that far in review.
