Who else thinks lifetime bans from sites are often extreme?

I think let the person ask again a year or a few years later, and give them another chance. Banning someone for the rest of their life barring some like really serious criminal offense doesn't sit right with me.

For example, a poker site outright banned me, not just revoked chat privileges because I would tell people to "Get HIV" when I lost a major poker hand to them. I get it, it's childish, okay. Banning me for the rest of my life is an absurd punishment for immaturity.

I told someone I wish you'd die because he wasn't treating me right and he stopped talking to me for good eventho I liked him. I was untreated for bipolar disorder and I was having a poor character and episode. Anyway what you did was unprovoked. So I don't blame them

Honestly, it depends because it can come down to personality disorders. If someone has say narcissistic personality disorder then there's no cure for that. It's how they're wired. They won't change because they always think they're in the right. People like that should be banned for life. Same for sociopathy or any of the personality disorders.

If I meet people on here it's just in a friendly manner. But I don't want to meet anyone who has personality disorders. Those people should be banned. There are enough unhinged people online as it is.

Lifetime bans make sense. If it’s only a year the site would have to add more complex coding to activate after the year and then if they got banned again it’s a pattern
