Who else thinks lifetime bans from sites are often extreme?

I think let the person ask again a year or a few years later, and give them another chance. Banning someone for the rest of their life barring some like really serious criminal offense doesn't sit right with me.

For example, a poker site outright banned me, not just revoked chat privileges because I would tell people to "Get HIV" when I lost a major poker hand to them. I get it, it's childish, okay. Banning me for the rest of my life is an absurd punishment for immaturity.
