Is it common on this site to ignore rather than punish?

About an hour ago, I posted a question requesting the deletion of an account belonging to someone who insulted me. Almost everyone advised me to ignore and block the person instead.

It just depends some of the moderators spend more time taking down things they disagree with but letting obvious trolls do what they want. I’ve had a better experience with the admin on here.

I do know many times posting other peoples accounts will get you into more trouble then they do. There is a lot of trolls and feeding into them makes it worse I’ve realized. So ignoring them and reporting them. Is what I do.

I guess that depends on what was said. It's not your choice whether they get their account deleted or not, it's up to the site admin

I don't think someone should get their account deleted for being rude. Which is worse? Being insulted or losing all your contact with your friends on this site. If someone is rude or creeps you out just block them. If that person is an ongoing menace to the community that may be a different story.

Yes it does, i got some racist comment because i am Asian. Don’t take it personally, we can’t do anything here.
