Nothing pseudo about it. Feminism is and has always been a female superiority movement, and by the 1980, Feminist leaders stopped pretending that they were fighting for equality and outright called for the destruction of marriage, and in the 90s, discouraged women to have relationships with men at all - this is when the rolled out the concept that all heterosexual sex was men rape, for example.

And, yes, they will try to convince women who aren't yet fully indoctrinated that they are just fighting for equality, there's a reason they don't use the correct term for THAT (egalitarianism): they are in actuality very against egalitarianism. In fact, you, a woman, was in a gender studies class, and you suggested that Feminism should rebrand itself as Egalitarian, you will either be treated as a mentally slow child or be met with outright hostility.

Chivalry is a part of "the patriarchy", and completely against Feminism. You can't be both.

And that's the real issue: most women have been taught Feminism and to want what Feminism tells them to want, but they ALSO don't want to give up any of the benefits of the patriarchy either. Men aren't playing that game, though. You can pick one or the other, but it's not an ala carte menu where you can pick and choose. If you want to be strong and independent, that's fine, but you had better be able to do without a man's help - in ALL situations. And that whole "woman and children first" rule is right out the window.

I actually think it's more like the truest, most mainstream feminism as frequently taught in gender and women's studies courses today.

Unlike the original mythopoetic men's movement which introduced the term, "toxic masculinity", feminists in academia have adopted the term, "toxic masculinity", to mean something very different (basically anything that reinforces the patriarchy, which itself is an extensive and ill-defined topic).

I had an extensive series of lectures on this topic but one of the things I most vividly remember is that man's instinct to protect women and children was considered a major part of what intersectional feminists consider "toxic masculinity".

At the heart of the gentleman code is to lead and protect and provide for women. That's why we walk on the side of the curb with oncoming traffic, to protect the woman from harm in case a car swerves off road. That's why we pull up the chair, carry a handkerchief in case she cries, hold open the door, etc. That's why we initiate the process of asking women out and arrange and pay the date while women follow our lead.

That is considered "toxic masculinity" now at least according to my feminist sociology professor. For men to go out of their way to protect women is to reinforce patriarchal oppression of both men and women (my professor and our associated textbooks said this oppresses men because it places social pressure on them to protect women) according to that course. So anyone who actually followed the course (I didn't, thankfully) would follow the gentleman code of conduct.

Another thing about gentleman code of conduct in its extensive form is that it's not just about little courtship and dating rituals. The ultimate goal is marriage. The underlying values of gentleman extend into marriage: to be a leader, protector, provider. The gentleman rituals are a way to display to women that we're capable leaders, protectors, and providers.

If we look at feminism all the way back to the second wave, it veers towards an anti-marriage route because marriage is considered a patriarchal institution that reinforces men's power and oppression of women. The wife under such a view is similar to the proletariat under communist ideology with the man being like the bourgeois oppressing the proletariat. Simply replace "capitalism" with "patriarchy", "bourgeois" with "men" (or, in the case of intersectional feminism, anyone considered to belong to a privileged group), "proletariat" with "women", and we're not too far off from the most widely-taught forms of feminism.

To eradicate the patriarchy means to eradicate marriage; actually that, above all else, is the ultimate aspect of the patriarchy. And that's completely contradictory to the ultimate goal of the gentleman.

Yes but it's what we call "feminism" today. We don't call it "pseudo feminism". Feminists don't like the fact that THEY have developed a certain reputation that most women are ashamed of. Their male (simp) supporters also don't like the fact that feminist is a negative word and will try and argue that we don't understand what the word means. It's like someone claiming we shouldn't call ISIS members terrorists because terrorist is a bad word.

Plus men realized that the traditional idea that a woman who needs protection should have a man is alive & well. If you don't have a man to open the door for you or change a tire that's your problem, not ours.

Also there seems to be a misconception among a lot of people that chilvary was for everybody back in the day. NO. It was only for women who were respectful towards men and acted like ladies. It just happened that back in the day 99.9% of women were like that in public. And if a woman OR man was rude or talking crazy they could get punched or slapped by any random person without warning. We had less mental health issues back then than we do now with doctors claiming that pills and $350/hour therapy are better than "mean" shaming.

Chivalry was never a one way street. There were equally complimentary mores on the female side that went along with the chivalry and yes feminism dropped those and so dropped chivalry.

It is unfortunate because they were crafted to foster mutual respectfulness between the genders. Too late now. That horse went to knackers long ago.

How convenient it must feel to just "disown" any feminists who behave badly and call them "pseodo feminists" so feminism doesn't have to take any responsibility for all the bullshit in modern feminism.

Sorry to break it to you, but they're feminists, not "pseudo feminists". The fault for the destruction of Chivalry, and so many other problems in modern society and gender relations, falls squarly on the feminist movement.

I was at a Jazz and whiskey bar in a trendy part of Philly. They had one bathroom and the line was pretty long. I was chatting with a young lady until it was my time to go in. I said "ladies first" and she got offended and said "I don't believe in that" I said "I do" and wouldn't go in until she did. We just kept telling the person behind her to go head of us. We stayed their playing values chicken until they closed. She was pissed!

    Yes
I was asked to "F*ck off" by a small woman in a flight when I offered help with the heavy luggage she was struggling with
I stopped offering help to women since then but I'd be glad to help if they ask

Be your own man, that was the whole pretext of equality right? The right for women to have self determination, but yet they still subconsciously desire subjugation.
