The productive citizens would be contributing to a robust economy based on free enterprise and law and order. There would be an impartial court system and a public school system that would be set up to teach young people math and science. The liberals would have the welfare class and illegal aliens. They might last a couple of years before they run out of food, v We would need a border wall to keep them out.

What are you talking about? If California were a separate country, it would be the seventh largest economy in the world. The only red state that comes close is Texas, and it's getting bluer by the day. You can look at the 2020 presidential map and see that all the major cities went for Biden, and they are expanding. Austin is no longer just Travis county -- Williamson county to the north also went for Biden, as well as the entire I-45 corridor between Austin and San Antonio.
@slatyb California is running the largest deficit in the nation. The state is bankrupt. It does not matter how big the economy is. democrats have run it into the ground. So many people have left they have lost at least one congressional seat. Many democrat states are in the same sad state.
There's tons of countries with lower GDP that expats can't wait to move to. "The GDP is this big..." doesn't seem to be all that compelling to the couple in Belize living like royalty for $500/month.

Nah. Red and blue is an oversimplification that assumes everyone is either right/left, conservative/liberal, Democrat/Republican, as if there are only two choices. I think individuals are more complex than that.
I've see people of all walks of life, political views, races, sexual preferences, and religions come together as brothers and sisters on certain issues. I love that.
What divides people are conniving politicians, self-serving political parties, media, and scheming global elites who sew divisiveness for their own gain.
I don't like the Republican party. I strongly disagree with some of their ideals. But I have come to despise the Democrats.
My problem with a national divorce is, I like living in California for the weather and topography. It sucks that it has been captured by Democrats whose agenda has been making life harder and harder. Outside of San Francisco and other large cities, much of the state is more conservative. And I think election shenanigans insures that Democrats remain in power.
So, while I think for myself and am not on the binary red-blue spectrum, I don't want California relegated to permanent blue status.
I know a guy who owns a restaurant. He told his employees to never complain about anything, UNLESS, they had a solution. The employees were all given a piece of paper and asked to list their complaints, and then provide their solutions. None of the employees could do it.

I think the solution is for people to come together as brothers and sisters to oppose the true enemies who are trying to tear this country apart. People have more in common than they think if they would drop their labels and stop making assumptions about each other.

I have what I think of as 1960s-70s liberal values. Things like peace, love, tolerance, open mindedness, independence, fairness, justice, love of liberty, distrust of authority, and opposition to war and aggression. Even though we differ on various individual issues, I have many conservative AND progressive (not "woke" liberal) friends who say "That's me! Those are my values, too."
I think a majority of Americans also support the values set forth in the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed..."
They believe in "government of the people, by the people, for the people" [not the oligarchs, corporations, and globalist predators]
And they support the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
We could start by coming together to demand the renewal of those values and tossing those who subvert them out on their ears.

I would rather this not happen but God forbid it does. I'd like to think of it as a competition between capitalism and socialism. The blue team can go as communist/fascist/Nazi/whatever as they please and will die off in less than 100 years because authoritarianism and economic prosperity are like oil and water.
The Red team won't be perfect either, they will be authoritarian in their own way but as far as I know, it won't matter to the average person unless they make dumb decisions in your life like agreeing to sex with someone they don't want a child with or digging themselves into insurmountable debt.
msnbc is total garbage. I watch only to see the mindset they are programming. Fox is bad, but better. there is rational somewhere inbetween.
I think what it does is establish clear areas where they are one way or the other. Then can decide where want to live.

There is no such thing as red states and blue states. People seriously need to stop thinking along those lines. Red and blue are strictly a media thing.
There is no possible way to split the US, or any other country, along ideological lines. The most lopsided states are not more than about 25-75%. The majority of states are 45-55% or closer. In the last presidential election, at least three states that didn't even have a majority. Yet they were still portrayed as red or blue.
All I know is that, if Texas leaves and my state doesn't; I am going to move to Texas. Maybe the Libertarian party could fill in the spot where the DNC is. Then the people I vote for would have a chance to win.
In this scenario, there would be no DNC in Texas. And what most people don't understand is... the Libertarian party makes the Republicans look like wimps. lol
