@al_musafir That must be why so many Islam-driven societies are so squared away. Decline of Turkey, decline of Iran, Decline of Iraq, Pakistan has always been a shithole, public beheadings and amputations in The Kingdom. That's a swell place. Libya, Yemen, Tunisia. They were real receptive to criticism of their governments in the Arab Spring. Egypt has always championed human rights of course. Of course, those might suck due to Middle Eastern geopolitics, at least Africa has... Somalia and Sudan may not be the best examples... Morocco is nice though, for sure.
Yes. Clearly I mean both. It's a warriors religion. I'm not saying there aren't peaceful Muslims. Far from it! But Islam was born out of conflict in 610A. D. So it has a confrontational tone to it. "Convert or die" This makes it easy for a**holes who want to exploit it for thier own purposes to do so.
I think Islam gets a bad rap because Christianity controls the most wealth in the world. Most the power is in control of Christians. Poverty breeds resentment. So understandably the likelihood of radical Muslims increases.
Add to this the vast differences between the Islamic cultures and Christian cultures in general and Islamiphobia becomes much more understandable. NOT EXCUSABLE! But understandable.
But... but... but it's the 'Religion of Peace'!
A little piece of you over here, a piece of you over there, a piece everywhere after the bomb has gone off.

Is it rational to dislike an ideology that want to kill you? don't seems as irrational to me.
https://www.thereligionofpeace.com/pages/articles/islamophobia.aspx
A "phobia" is, by its very nature and definition, irrational. So in that sense, yes.
However, it is not irrational for someone to be suspicious of Islam if it's based on credible evidence and observations.
Mmmmm. I would argue that during conflicts it's rational, and rational when Christians, Jews, or other groups not approved by muslims start being killed or tortured in muslim countries. Otherwise it's nothing to really fear, and plenty of muslims are not vicious. But when islamists really start rising up to carry out violence in the name of God, then I could understand the fear.
Well now, is it rational or irrational to fear a religious ideology that views all non-practitioners as enemies to be killed or subdued? I'd say irrational. An ideology isn't dangerous in itself... however, Islam has enough devote followers bent on installing theocracies all over the world. An entire world under Allah if you will. We have plenty of them here in Sweden and now we even have an islamic Party doing it's best to change the country.
Yeah, I'd say there's reason.
So 2 things:
1. Its rational.
2. A phobia by definition is an irrational fear, so fear of religions in general is not a phobia, as religion in general causes tangible harm to society by tricking stupid people into doing, saying, or thinking things that are contrary to and/or dangerous for themselves and /or those around them.
How is it not rational after 9/11 and all the other terror plots. Most Muslims are good people but there are some that more than make up for it.
Is Christianphobia rational?
Look at the countries where these beliefs are prominent and that will tell you everything you need to know.
Islam is what America needs, especially to end female promiscuity.
It's good to see people thinking this way. Islam IS the solution to every societal, banking, political and personal etc vices.
@AngryCarl I still adhere to my reply. Islam for every aspect of life. Controlling nudity and setting sexual limitations make a small yet utterly important part of Islam.
How about no.
religions want faith and worship... not reasoning
Any type of systemic based fear is inherently irrational
Disgust isn't a phobia
