The speaker of the house is in charge of protecting the Capitol. Why didn't she ask Trump to send the national guard in for Jan 6th?

It was her job to protect the Capitol and the transition of power on that day. She failed. Nancy and the mayor, Muriel Bowser, chose to not protect the Capitol on that day. They both didn't want the National Guard protecting the Capitol on that day. Why? This wasn't their first rodeo. They knew how volatile that day always is. All Nancy had to do was pick up the phone and ask Trump to send her 10,000 troops. Done deal. She chose not to. Why do you suppose that is?

I've talked to some pretty sharp cookies on here, but holy sheep shit, there are also the "orange man bad" crowd. LOL What is wrong with them? I would get it if they were 12 years old, but they're 50! Beavis and Butt-head! LOL

I am probably wasting my time, but can try to explain it anyway: Nancy Pelosi is not in charge of the actual protection of the Capitol, the same way that the Commander-in-Chief is not in charge of an actual military operation. In the latter case, it's a general reporting to the president, in the former case it's the Sergeant at Arms and the Capitol Police Board, reporting to the speaker (s).

With regard to the decisions happening on January 6th., it seems that Paul Irving choose to ignore and delay the pleas for more support, including National Guard, by Police chief Steven Sund.

The National Guard is not controlled by the President, it's controlled by each state governor. In times of disaster, for example, often the President will ask the state governor to activate the National Guard. Since DC is not a state, I don't believe it has a National Guard. The best that could have happened is the DC mayor could have called in DC police.

I saw the videos. It’s disgusting that they tried to hide camera footage for all that time. Remember that guy with the horns? They threw them in prison. The only reason he’s out is because Tucker Carlson sued to see the footage. He was the mastermind terrorist, and yet they gave him that guided tour.
