Would Millennials be more successful if they made more decisions like Boomers?

Millennials are struggling in personal finances and relationships. Boomers made and consistently make different decisions than Millennials and they have had better results.

Boomers would not have flooded the country with massive numbers of undocumented immigrants which take up housing which pushes prices up, take up jobs which decreases the need to increase minimum wage, take up services etc, etc, etc.

Boomers focused on quality relationships and had families which they would die for. Millennials are listless and haven’t really grown up in many ways and seem to be perpetually 20 years old. They still do much of what they did at 20 even though they are in their 30s.

Millennials blame Boomers for their woes but as a group they never really made smart decisions in running their lives.

The Boomers transitioned the economy from industrial age to information age. They were wiser when voting. They didn’t get into ridiculous debt. They were wiser.

The other thing to consider is that society, technology, economies are drastically different between when these generations grew up. Then if you consider that the education system is designed to make workers with minimum education for advancement to fill the growing number of low paying jobs. As the 1% wealth has only grown significantly, it takes away from the what the lower %99 percent can obtain.

You realize that you could by a nice single family starter home near the water in Boca Raton (the Beverly Hills of Florida) for $30-$35K in the early 1970s when boomers were getting their start right? The median household income was roughly $15K a year. Today a similar home runs $800K-$1M and the median household income is roughly $75K. The economy is much different for Millennials and Boomers. Two years wages for boomers bought then a nice home in a safe affluent neighborhood with good schools for their children. To live the same sort of family life, Millennials have to work 11 to 14 years. Thus it takes Millennials 6 to 7 times the amount of work to accomplish the same goals as their parents. This is due to the Federal Reserve’s continuous money printing to devalue the American dollar. Millennials have no control over the Fed’s policy, they just have a delayed life as a result of it.

Florida was not the Florida of today in the early 1970s. The houses were lesser in size, amenities and such things at the time plus there weren’t too many great jobs in Florida. Big money in NYC could buy places there but not too many locals.

The economy was actually stronger in Boca Raton in the 1970 due to it being the home of IBM at Blue Lake Center where the PC was invented. There were shit tons of highly paid engineering jobs and it was still a very luxurious resort town. Next time do your research.

If you read that article you will understand how Boca Raton, FL was the Silicon Valley of the late 60s, 70s, and 80s, but the tech sector declined in the mid to late 90s just as Millennials were graduating High School. So you see, Boomers had a great economy with low prices. Millennials got served up a crap economy (i. e. dot come bubble burst/great recession) but prices went sky high due to inflation. They are totally different economies that forced Millennials to work so much harder than their parents for far less quality of life.

And this is not exclusive to Boca Raton, FL. This pattern flows through the entire economy, but is very visible in Florida. If you want to take a closer look at Florida, then you can again focus on the technology sector, this time more specifically aerospace. In the late 60's and 70s you had the space race. The center of this technology effort was in the Melbourne, FL and Cape Canaveral, FL. There were massive amounts of engineering jobs in South Central Florida to drive the space race, space shuttle program, and international space station program. This however declined significantly under Obama who gutted NASA.

Nasa moved to private companies to make the next wave of space rockets and exploration which is good since we now have SpaceX and will finally go back to the moon and onto Mars. The problem is Democrats and the Fed keep fucking up the economy with bad policy. Just like Obama (D) nuked the aerospace industry in Florida by canceling many space programs costing the state thousands of jobs, the same thing happened with the loss of IBM. Bob Graham (D) enacted the Unitary Tax in 1983 which led to IBM canceling major expansion plans in Palm Beach county, and Boca Raton specifically. Over time the business decision was made to move the Boca campus to the research triangle in Raleigh, NC and to Austin, Texas even though the new Democrat tax was repealed in 1984. The damage was done and IBM began transitioning out of the state graduly and pretty much was all but gone by the mid 90s along with other major companies like Sony. But at least the IBM boys that were forced to relocate to Texas, started Citrix soon after and moved the company back to south Florida.

It's also funny that you think Apple invented the PC, when their hobby product was coined the "home computer" and it had a very small market share, where as IBM had created many small computers like that decades before, but was the first company to mass market under the term PC to the general public. The IBM PC became the industry standard as as a result the PC still to this day dominates the market and is responsible for the growth of the information age.

Baby boomers enjoyed a big demographic bulge through history. They went through college together and enjoyed rock and roll, television and a counter culture fueled by the vietnam War. They were the first to question authority and finally brought the war to an end. But reality is that young people today work more, harder, have higher skill levels and pretty much outperform previous generations in every metric. Something that tends to be ignored.

The real difference is much simpler. Boomers lived in a time of financial ease. We're currently in a dip worse than the great depression. Which again no one is talking about.

So the really important issue is that people earn a third or so of what boomers did when you convert the money and also adjust for things you have to buy. Its not exactly fair to compare at all.

You think that was easy? We just made it look easy. Moving to a new computerize age by making it happen was huge. We could have cried about no jobs at the factory and sat at home but we created a new world… that you now live in.

The boomers have fought many of the battles to get the country back in the right foot but the Millennials keep voting against what makes sense and thereby shooting the country in the foot… and then saying its the boomers fault.

Millennials need to reinvent the economy for themselves to get paid more and stop voting for politicians that make laws which hurt them and their cities such as defund police, no bail, soft on crime DAs, massive illegal immigration, unbridled spending which will really give you that depression in the 2030s which is now likely unstoppable due to the debt bomb.
