Are you sick of all these recent videos that HAVE to have subtitles & they show them across the middle of the screen & flash each word as it's said?

I UNDERSTAND English and DON'T need to be forced to read it while it's being spoken and easily understood!! I can understand having subtitles on videos where you can barely hear what's being said or it's in a different language or even in English with a hard to understand dialect but, if someone's speaking in very plain, easy to understand English, I DON'T need to have this shit ion my face!!

Your video started muted; the subtitle told me to unmute it. These are shorts. The subtitle grabs your attention long enough to make you stop scrolling endlessly. Have you seen the similar trend where there is some non-connected racing game under discussion? Similar attention-grabbing.

These are statistically backed ways to get people's attention and get paid for videos.

Right, THIS ONE'S a short but, there are much longer videos that still do that! I listened to one last night that was at least 8:00 long. There was no video on it worth watching so, I just listened to the robo-voice tell the story, BADLY, and, onto a background of a late night view of a stream, they had the words of THE ENTIRE STORY flashed across the middle of the screen as Mr. Robo-voice pronounced them! And, I've seen dozens of other full length (at least 5:00 to an hour or so) videos that also had that annoying text across the middle of the picture! Like, I'm too fucking stupid to understand what's being said and they HAVE to highlight each word as it's being spoken because they think I'm too stupid to know how to read or spell those words!
I NEVER saw this stuff until about 5 or 6 months ago! Well, not on real videos but on those stupid advertising videos that spend an hour and a half telling you the life story of someone that bought or created whatever they're selling instead of just telling you up front what the fuck it is and how much it costs!

You understand subtitles are a thing in modern media and how it fits into the quick and speedy shorts despite to grab people. It's a tool to be exploited.

That's why shorts use subtitles. You Don't have to like it but you now understand the mental understanding behind it right.

Exactly you'd do anything else. The subtitle gives a buffer on the thumb scrolling to the next one.

The subtitle annoys me so, I don't bother watching it. If there was some actual action in the video that I'd need to see, I'd watch it but, as it's just a robo-voice reading badly,. I'll just listen and get other stuff done.

The only way to avoid it is scrolling past it as soon as you see it. The algorithm will pick up on it for you.

I've never used Facebook. I like YouTube. Lot of people copy and paste shorts in every platform to get a income. Adding subtles is the difference getting $2 vs $2000 that's all there is to it.

Maybe they add it for people who can't hear anything. But even those people can understand your words by examining how your month moves. So they don't need to hear anything to tell what you are saying.

How do you figure? I see a number of them EVERY DAY for the past few months and I'm NOT looking for them! If I'm not their target audience, they HAVE an option in the lower right corner to turn the CC on themselves if they can't hear what's being said!
