on the video of eclipse i loved the following part:

the dark plate started covering the sun, until it covered all but a thin sliver. darkness was defeating the sun and the sky! but in the darkest moment... no sun remained... when all covered... the light spread around the moon, like a ring of light that grew brighter. it became a thick layer of bright blaze all around the moon. wow! and the symbolism of life's darkest times!

the best way is to hold a pair of binoculars with the big end toward the sun and point it on your hand or a piece of paper, you'll get a perfectly bright and clear image
