I agree that when you have no safety to fall back to, it will push you to try to succeed, no matter what. However, one can't be bias believing that just cause you do that it will become successful and if you fail, you can still continue. You gave the example of saying that you refused to accept your health issues, and hence recovered from it. Whilst the motivation is great and most people should follow, one should also understand the challenges ahead, be aware of what possible setbacks there are so that one can eventually accept its faith if it doesn't work out. One needs to understand themselves, know their capability and have a general realistic view of what can be achieved.
