I shoplifted a handful of times in my teenage years, initially due to group pressure but soon it was all about trying to maintain that innocent face whilst doing something forbidden. For many shoplifters the trigger of trying not to get caught is the reason of doing it and for others it arises from maybe doing this for survival or earning. In the end for them all is to avoid being caught and they all believe prior to going into the store that they are superman or even better than him. Any signs or information, won't stop them from doing it. What will is the laws in the country and adding more security theft alternatives on their products and in store, maybe locking in expensive products, or storing most of it in the warehouse alllowing for visitors one or two of the product in store. Have better and more secured entry and exit doors, add more CCTV cameras, enhance security guards and other security measure to make it harder and tougher so the shoplifters avoids shoplifting this particular store.
They should have some bait ( like bait cars) with GPS trackers inside so they can bust them.
Absolutely... as long as the laws allow it and sentence them enough. In Sweden for instance arrest from the bait will me unmissable if you don't let the thieves know that their are gps trackers within them. Have been many cases where the robber or arsonists has gotten away with the crime due to claiming in court that they were not aware of cctv in the area/store/house and hence that recording can't be used as evidence. Again, laws have to change.
I didn't know someone was watching me kill someone so I should not be held accountable. That is what that nonsense sounds like. Who makes these laws? 😮
Clearly people who are not the police nor have studied criminal law. We had this case that got nationwide coverage, where two criminals set a nightclub within a hotel on fire and was caught on cctv carrying the gas cans from a car to the hotel entrance and dumping the gloves etc in a dumpster. The cctv which was the crucial evidence was unmissable due to the bank where the camera was pointed towards didn't have signs warning the people about it. Hence there was no way to prove it was them. As for the gloves and dna they claimed a vehicle of theirs was stolen a week earlier with the gloves within. The case ended with the criminals accusing the state for falsely arresting them and was awarded couple of million. The two individuals were brothers of another nightclub in the city and didn't want competition. Everyone knew but BS laws allowed them to get away.
That is utterly outrageous. This is what our world is coming to. The good people are victims and the crooks get away with murder. 😝
No! Whenever those shoplifters don’t get charged with a crime. They will probably steal the sign!
😂🤣
Walmart didn't think so, both deodorant and laundry detergent are locked up now... add insult to injury the keys don't always work. Guess they went with the cheap vaults. They expect the employees to walk the person to the front with the laundry detergent... 80+ times a day? Why not just strip search customers as they leave. Less cost.
@dustybiker2. Not too many years ago. They only escorted you to the door when you purchased a firearm!
This is true too
@dustybiker2 Home Depot does that. First you have to have someone open the cage to look at some tool. Then they walk you up to the counter to pay for it first and then you get it. That is what it is coming to seeing as people just run out the door with carts of stuff.
Yes. True.
Last I saw this was late 80's at places that specialized in high end jeans. They eventually just gave up and filed with their insurance for losses.. and went out of business.
This cage thing is ridiculous though. It puts so much more work on employees that are already exhausted working around huge stores all day for marginal pay.
It took 1/2 hour to get someone to just come and help you.
Yes. If I was an employee after the tenth customer of the day in just twenty min I might take my time too. lol

Not unless there was a credible threat of going to prison for shoplifting. If someone already had a moral objection to stealing, they wouldn't be open to that message.
ya gotta laugh. it needs to be in Spanish though ;
