What brings people together?

One thing I've found that brings two people who are irreconcilably opposed to eachother is a common enemy, who's worse than both of them.
A great example of this is my favorite movie, The Hateful Eight. SPOILER ALERT!!! Don't say I didn't warn you!

Chris Mannix and Major Warren have irreconcilable differences in opinion. They fought on opposing sides in the civil war, and Warren spent much of his life as a slave, by the time the war came around, Warren was very mad and took out all of the things he experienced on southerners.

Chris Mannix was a rebel renegade based loosely off of Quantrills Raiders. They burned and stole from towns that supported the Union, as well as ambushed Union soldiers.

Whether Mannix cared about slavery or not, Warren would always view Mannix as one of the men who if they'd won, slavery would've gone on longer, that alone means Warren will never like Chris Mannix, and Chris wouldn't like Warren, since he viewed all southerners with such a broad brush.

John Ruth let Mannix ride with them to the haberdashery, despite Ruth not liking Chris at all for what he read about what his marauders did.

But there's one person worse than both of them combined, Ruth's prisoner, Daisy. One of the men working for her poisoned the coffee, which Ruth and OB drank, Mannix was holding the coffee in his hand, and Ruth used his last breath to warn Mannix not to drink the coffee. Ruth didn't like Chris, but he wasn't going to let him die.

Ruth saved Chris' life, so he owed him his loyalty, and got it when Chris worked with Warren to stop Daisy from escaping. Daisy offered Chris a way out of it, if he killed Warren, but he refused.

Not only that, Chris ripped Daisy apart in a long speech against her. However, he passed out from blood loss.

Mannix was able to wake up just in time to shoot Daisy. Warren laughed and admitted that he may have misjudged Chris. They both died together as friends, and it was beautiful.
