First off, a "raid" should never have even been on a table, especially not when a former president is involved, which inherently includes multiple federal agencies with conflicts of interest and jurisdiction. There was a legal avenue to deal with this that the current administration made a conscious decision not to do, which in my opinion was a massive mistake. Based on information that has been revealed, it appears that the only reason this raid happened in the first place was because they thought it would look like a political win, and agents planted fake cover letters and props for propaganda purposes, potentially to draw attention away from what exactly they were recovering, which is speculated to be proof of crimes committed by various politicians and appointees. This seems more likely considering the extremely risky "at all costs" approach they took.

Authorizing lethal force within certain parameters in a raid is normal. The problem lies in the above paragraph; other federal agencies are not permitted to even bring firearms in the vicinity of a secret service protectee. In fact, even other secret service agents who aren't part of the protectee's detail aren't exempt from that rule. This could've easily been circumvented by taking the lawfare route, issuing subpoenas, and holding Trump in contempt for noncompliance, which would be a much less disastrous scandal and even a potential win.

There's basically no way to cut this in which the DOJ and FBI's shot callers (and frankly the agents involved who should know better) weren't acting maliciously. Even a charitable assumption of extreme ignorance or stupidity to not just the system but even how this looks from the outside seems too far-fetched.

That said, no this was not an "assassination attempt" and MGT is being theatrical as usual. The goal here was to get those documents, smear the former president in the process, and strongarm the security detail into backing down by showing up with clearly excessive force.

Yes, I'm a news junkie. People don't understand that you can NOT seek asylum in the US, just because you come from a shitty country. The Facts: 1) The search warrant was pushed fast with FBI working with local law enforcement since they knew Trump wasn’t going to be there to stop the classified documents being moved, 2) There is footage according to Trump showcasing FBI ransacking the place and stealing personal items… However when asked by Sean Hannity if he would release the footage, Trump promised he would the next day online (didn’t) so the footage would OBVIOUSLY show a bloodbath, maybe a few armed guards with weapons drawn, threats being barked.
