Given the blatant government corruption involved in getting to that point, it's backfiring on the political establishment massively. This is exactly why those politicians need to get out of their echo chambers and stop relying on psyops to sway public opinion, and start actually paying attention to what's happening in their states and districts. This is also why they can't comprehend why traditional voting bases are getting upheaved, or why the candidate they've been screaming racism over is the most popular conservative among minorities in decades (and growing). There comes a point when offering nothing but fear as a motivator wears out and people start calling your side out for bullsh*t.

I take polling data from the propag- I mean "experts" with a heavy dose of salt, but so far it appears to be benefitting Trump by a factor of about 3:1 give or take a point depending on the source. Something that is definitely observable however, is that this has basically locked in the independent-libertarian vote for Trump (choosing a flippant communist as their party candidate also helped in that regard). Furthermore, I think more people who maybe weren't going to vote at all now will, not for Trump, but against the administration.

It hasn’t changed whatsoever. There’s absolutely no evidence whatsoever that suggests that US voters would change their vote for any reason, ever. Literally every currently registered voter in this country knew exactly who they were going to vote for no less than four years ago. The vast majority of them knew the day they registered to vote. All they need to see is a ‘D’ or an ‘R’, and they are 100% locked in. Mountains move miles faster than these idiots can be convinced of anything that their current narrative doesn’t already dictate.

In terms of its immediate impact, there is not likely to be much. Each side will be hardened in their views and it is not apt to move the needle very much. However, the implications for the legal system are apt to be more serious over the long run.

While I am no fan of Mr. Trump, he was not even told what crimes he was being charged with until the trial began - a clear violation of the 5th Amendment. Further, the judge was know to have made several campaign contributions to the Biden campaign and his daughter was known to work for that campaign. Suffice to say, that brings up a variety of conflict of interest questions and undermines any claim to objectivity.

All this made worse by the fact that the case was brought on the basis of a misdemeanor charge for which the statute of limitations had run out. The case being then brought forward by linking to Federal election laws with which the state of New York has no jurisdiction. (It also being noted that the judge blocked the Trump people from calling an Federal elections law expert as a witness.)

Put it all together and the likely outcomes will be two. First, expect prosecutors in Republican states will likely now go after Democrat candidates for various elective offices. A war of political lawsuits is apt to follow.

Second, and more worrisome, is the overall legal and judicial system will gradually lose its' legitimacy, making the rule of law problematic. The implications of that will be - to say the least - grim.

Although I am no fan of Mr. Trump, this case was too crassly political and too contrived to have any real merit. It was also as predictable as the sunrise - especially given that the jury was drawn from a population 89% solidly Democrat - that Trump would be found guilty. (This after the Trump team had asked for a change of venue and was denied it by the judge.)

The outcome was predictable. The effect - long term - on the outcome of the election is likely to be minimal. (Indeed, it may even give Mr. Trump a modest boost.) The effect on the credibility of the American legal system is likely to be far grimmer and enduring.

It's more importantly bleeding the entire greater GOP dry of funding. All the devote trumpist are paying Don's dues and billionairs who want an investment are going anywhere else.

So maybe they can save don himself possible if they go all in. They will then have to kill off the entire GOP for one head of state at the top. Don is the definition of cancer at this point cut him off now or die for him.

Trump just handled mulitple stressful trials and more to come. Trump is capable of at least being conscious and remembering, he chooses not to and prefers to lie.

No effect. He really could rape a wailing kid in the middle of fifth Avenue and not lose a single supprter. These people want white christians to be allowed any indulgence no matter how criminal so seeing him being held accountable for rigging the 2016 election will only increase their resolve.

However, it won't increase their numbers. The only play Trump supporters have for winning is to discourage turnout for Biden. And the narrative that this was a Biden Administration political hit job isn't going to trick anyone that isn't already a diehard rage junkie. It isn't going to convince anyone who is leaning Biden not to vote for him.

I think it's more, some on the edge Haley followers might be swayed away but a lot of independents view it as corruption by the Democrats.

I still don't know what the crime was and with all the blatant offences by our politicians over the years and for this to be a felony in NY with how liberal NYC is and how they linked all these misdemeanors to a felony which no crime itself happened the whole thing just stinks of political corruption.

Where is this kind of trial for Pelosi, or the Clinton's, Schumer etc?

Probably less likely because low information independence will not know how it was rigged.

That said it also makes it impossible for Joe Biden to claim he won in a free and fair election after putting his only realistic opposition thou such in an election year.

Whether New York state reverses the edict on the fact that the court abuse the law or the Federal court throws it out on the grounds that the court completely violated the 6th amendment and in numerous other ways disregarded Trump's due process rights.

To say nothing the political targeting of the DA and judge in a very unequal application of New York 'law'.

The real question is now that new York has too cross this Rubicon what happens to New York and the other states now that this kind of abuse if effective.

It is no longer safe for anyone who will ever be at odds with the New York Political elite to remain in New York in anyway.

But to answer your question I don't think the conviction changes anything. We knew already that Trump is a crook, and some people are okay with that. They're so used to corruption in politics they don't recognize him as a threat to the nation, or they don't feel the nation is worth defending anyway. This is the end of the American Experiment, and it's a spectacular failure.
