There's the old saying that "men give love to get sex" which isn't fully true but if you want boil it down there's a nugget of truth in it. But how much depends on the guy and woman in question. And then you have the second part of the saying "women give sex to get love". Which again probably isn't fully true either. But if you boil it down there is a nugget of truth as well. It depends on the guy and woman in question.

So are most relationships transactional? In my opinion, yes. But it's also my opinion the vast majority of relationships are very poor quality relationships. I think most people who are together minimally care about the other person and are just "waiting for something better" to come along.

By the way I substituted "transactional" for the word pay. Because I think that's a more accurate word. Pay does not have to be money.

Men? I have no idea what they do. I pay for dates because I can, and never beg for sex. When I was dating I didn't ask for anything. Sex was freely given after about three dates.
