Do you think suicide is the hardest way to lose a child?

I personally think it is.

Imagine knowing the person you gave life to hated their life and themself so much they rather be dead. I personally can’t think of a more upsetting way to lose a child.

It would be sad to lose a child to things like cancer or a car accident but at least in these circumstances a parent can know their child didn’t hate themself and their life so much they rather be dead

Happiness is the number one thing normal people want for their children. No happy person wants to kill themself

I think so, or at least among them.

You can't control or influence disease or accidents. But you do have control and influence when it comes to moral formation and self-image. You can provide guidance. So if a child takes his or her own life, a parent can always question if it was something they did or failed to do, if it was a mistake they made, a sign they missed, and if there was more they could have done. I could see how it would sting a parent more to lose their child that way.

I once saw an interview with the mother of one of the Colombine shooters; how she heard her son had been a participant in a mass shooting, and she entertained a brief spark of hope that at least he'd survived- before being told they'd both killed themselves. That WAS suicide, but if he'd been killed by the police, would it really feel any better?
