Is losing a child a good reason for anyone to attempt suicide?

Anonymous

My friend told me this story about a dude (someone's former neighbor) that's remains at a psychiatric facility after his failed attempt, his continuous thoughts about wanting to do it again and unstable conduct; he went crazy. He tried jumping off the balcony but rescuers placed a large cushion.

That was his reaction after losing his only child. A week after his daughter's 20's birthday, the family's car got impacted by an elderly driver in his 80's that lost control of his van. The guy, his wife, the family friend and the old man survived except their daughter.

As much as it's a terrible loss and an emotional agony indeed, I would like to believe there are ways to cope with it and not attempt suicide. Is that a good reason to attempt suicide?
