In that case from a civilization point of view your value extends no further than what you personalty can contribute during the mere 30-60 years you can work.
Whereas the vast majority of everyone else's value by contrast is in making possible the infinite number of individuals that follow them. Including the ones who will work to provide the goods & services when your too old to.
