Why is abortion such a hot topic in America right now?

Why are women so obsessed with not having children? I am pro abortion, I think if the baby is unwanted by the mom and or dad it is better off dead. But what is the American appeal of not wanting to have children and why is it so high recently?

It’s not an “appeal” it’s an election year and this is a major topic of discussion. As you may or may not know, the supreme court held a case in the 1970’s that was called “Roe v. Wade” wherein two parties tried to argue that a woman could/could not be arrested for having an abortion in a state where it was legal when she lived in a state where the procedure was illegal. Ultimately the courts decided that the ability to choose to have the procedure at all fell under the constitutional right to privacy, and made it so that all states had to comply with allowing abortion procedures. And then, in more recent years, a heavily conservative supreme court with members hand-picked by former President Trump overturned this decades old ruling so now the right to abort is determined by state law and not federal law. This has caused multiple states to immediately outlaw abortion in various ways and take away this bodily right that specifically affects women.
This is such a hot topic of discussion because the democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is a woman, and is promising to try and reinstate this ruling so there will be a federal law making it impossible for a state to arrest a woman or her doctor for having an abortion. And the republican candidate, Trump, was the reason this was overturned in the first place. It’s almost guaranteed that Harris will have a majority female vote just for this difference alone, everything else from here is a matter of trying to rally support for votes for both candidates as they make promises about how they’ll make the country better when they’re placed in office.

I am pro abortion too tho obviously I don't think woman should be sluts and use it as a form of birth control but I don't think poor children should be brought into the world to be abused, neglected or brought up wrong. It always is brought up by the people in elections and what not, trying to ban stuff, it happens every year.

It goes hand and hand with child marriages and women having autonomy as a human being. Are women chattel you historically trade with a plot of land and some farm animals in a dowery.

So abortion really is the last ground to take away women rights. Unborn are convenient to hind behind. If we really wanted to have the least amount of abortions we would have comprehensive sex education at schools and easy availability to birth control including abortions.

You'd think with everyone hating epstein we should help children with the knowledge of how things work and have the vocabulary to ask for help. Yet we have them in the dark and defenseless from preditors. For purity sake.

It does blow my mind how politicians or people always say Yay abortion or No abortion but not one person publicly says... How about birth control, sex Ed, etc

One part Malthusian nonsense (debunked before Malthus was BORN), two parts victim complex- anything seen to disadvantage women in any way, or even to remove advantages women have, is seen as discrimination against women. Since abortion is inherently female-centered, it's a safe bet for use as a political club. This is also why such a foofaraw is made about anything whatsoever to do with transsexuals; they risk letting the cat out of the bag.

You can see intellectual dishonesty inherent in the dialogue with just the labels they use- you, as you say, are pro-abortion, something VERY few people will admit. They hide behind "pro-choice" or "pro-life", as though the other side opposed those things.

Most kids grow up feeling unloved when they are given away even when adopted by loving and caring people, most adopted kids have issues or drug problems. Also foster care and even people who adopt are known to have molesters and abusive weirdos who take them in. Not a great time for these children, so sometimes death is better.
