Would the American right be better receptive of trans people if trans was officially considered a religion?

I'm all about human rights and equal protection of the law being extended to trans people as a no-brainer. I don't think trans women in women's sports makes any sense. I consider myself an advocate for trans rights. But because I basically agree with the right on women's sports there are those sparse few in the trans community that would react in exactly the same way as if i had told a Christian that God is dead. So, why not just consider the trans thing a religion and then no one who advocates for religions would be allowed to say anything and be taken seriously?

Sexuality is not a religion. Fetishes aren’t a religion.

I feel like somehow it could be considered an occult type thing, and religions usually include deities, belief systems, and worship. Honor.

You don’t get any of that with lgbtq. It’s literally enough the sexual preference of this appropriately termed demographic have holiday/ month celebration “awareness” and inclusion of how they are wanting to be viewed on any app and even job applications. Or any other formal application/ documents.

The pronouns; the symbols. Even on a gaming app I had they had an option for putting the symbol as a sticker on the profile amongst other otherwise just creative and game like stickers. To me- that’s unnecessary. You don’t see hetero people celebrating their month or wanting to put their gender stickers on gaming apps.

It’s literally doing the most and too much.

You know how I see it? Like people yelling their body count and their fetishes out windows for all passerby’s to hear. “I like bondage!”

I don’t mind what a person wants to be but out of any type of person pursuing a type of identity like being some parachutist or cyclist. I’ve never seen such a strong expression displayed as with this community. I mean, is the bullying still happening? Cause I’d rather just let them be. Like I don’t really care what or who other people are doing in the bedroom behind closed doors, as long as it’s legal, and 100% consensual. 🤷‍♀️ That those doing it are same age but really just of age.

Yeah, that assumed right to be accommodated and acknowledged for a belief that makes zero sense to me is precisely how religious people behave. That was the whole inspiration for this question. The actual content of the belief doesn't mean anything because it is made up. It is the behavior of religious people that actually matters and I just can't tell the difference between the behavior of the religious community and the behavior of the trans community.

There’s a lot of actually decent and good lessons in some religions.

They teach about good virtues.

The world calls them fables and other.

Sometimes you may hear it as a parable. I am more familiar with these two, from public schooling as well as Christian background & upbringing.

They teach about valuing others, doing good instead of wrong.

It’s even influenced how we handle, legally, a person who aids another undergoing something say as cardiac arrest. If that person intending to resuscitate them, accidentally breaks their chest bone. The aiding person would be “not guilty,” or able of being accused, and instead follow under the terms and conditions of being a “Good Samaritan.”

This “nickname” that influences the situation legally, originated from biblical backgrounds. About a Good Samaritan who helped a wounded person on the side of the road.

So I say and one could argue (I’m not going to do this here, but someone else practically/ effectively could), there can be derived BENEFITS. REAL benefits. Taken from spirituality as some would prefer to call it. Instead of “religion.”

But I ask you, what benefits come from the lgbtq community? What good does one lgbtq member produce for another participating or non-participating member? One person of any other background.

I explained earlier how this community is revolved around celebrating actual sexual fetishes and preferences which is- AT LEAST strange to ME.

So now after saying all that I have I add:

How can a fetish bring good into this world and do good for others?

Curious to know your response.

I grew up Christian, made that my own choice and had asked my mother if I could “become” one, and I am no longer (today) an “actively serving” or believing Christian.

So I consider myself unbiased.

Do I have a somewhat mild respect for it, though? I do. 💯

I can understand you being annoyed with things that don’t seem progressive or lacks common sense, but for some spirituality has its benefits.

Good moral lessons for the young.

Good coping mechanisms for those approaching/ dealing with death.

And onwards. / Etc.

The only practical use for religion is to placate people's natural sense of existential dread. This could be an overall positive thing but the dominant method for doing so seems to have become distracting people with a pursuit of power over others.

The moral teachings of religion aren't something that religion owns. Those teachings can come from anywhere and, if anything, religion has hijacked them to appoint themselves the gatekeepers of moral authority - it's harder to convince people that you are a good person when you don't have a religion and it's harder to convince people that someone is a bad person if they do have religion. Not substantially harder but harder all the same.

Being transgender isn't a "fetish." Sex is a small part of that lifestyle, from what I can tell. And lifestyle is all about distraction from existential dread. But even if it were a fetish, consensual sexual obsessions are also a distraction from existential dread. As long as no one is imposing there isn't a problem, but religion does impose. And so does the transgender community a little bit - not much, there is an inconceivable distance between religious imposition and transgender imposition, but the point I'm trying to make is that it's in the same direction.

Lot of us are actually receptive about Trans people , we too have just 2 demands

1) Keep Trans Women out of women's spaces... bathrooms , prisons , sports etc

2) No Gender change surgery for people under 18

1) is generally up to whoever owns the building a bathroom etc is in and 2) is already a thing. Puberty blockers are not surgery but if a child truly insists they may be given puberty blockers until they are 18 so they can really decide on an irreversible surgical procedure as an adult.

Children should not consent.. they can't have tattoo below 18 so why puberty blockers?

I think equating gender identity to religion creates a rather large mess in and of itself. I can see where you’re coming from but the issue most people have with trans people is the fact that they equate gender and sex and believe the two are the same regardless of how one presents themselves. Truthfully the reason there is such a vitriolic response to trans people is because they’re the easy target now that gay people have the right to marry, so now people against queer communities are going after those whose rights are still in question on a federal level.

No, because the issue isn't religion, the issue is all this trans being forced onto everyone. Stop forcing trans issues and demand everyone comply, and let trans people be trans without making a big deal out of it, and there will be no problem.
