Honestly most men don't have the choice to even enlist unless shit is grim. You are showing well trained and equipped troops. They can't have any pre-existing conditions, and any major injury has them rocked out.

I got rocked out of the Marines for fraudulent enlistment (epilepsy). You'll hear tons of people talk about how close they were to joining, but very few who join. US who spends the most on the military has less than 1% of the population in the military at any time.

A lot of people give up before even trying to think of a way out of the situations they bitch about if you want the hard truth. All of the branches have recruitment problems despite that low ass number.
